Btw, I read Staples takes Apple Pay. So it will be nice if I can buy a FEE FREE Visa gift card from Staples using my Discover card via Apple Pay. Also Aldi takes Apple Pay & Discover and sells gift cards. I imagine other grocery stores do as well. Also gift cards for various stores are sold at gas stations. Gonna figure out a way to max out the $1500 spend this quarter 🙂 Any way to pay utility bills online with Apple Pay?
Another idea: after getting the Rewards Visa cards from Staples via Apple Pay, I can them perhaps use them to get money orders at Walmart to pay my mortgage payment? So 10% cash back on mortgage payment is nice 🙂
Office Depot, Target too, most places take Apple Pay. Even heard that Kroger finally accepts it, the last of the grocery stores. Utilities are dependent on your utility on acceptance. Same with mortgage assuming you’re able to buy MOs with the Staples VGCs.
Assume you’re on the first year of Discover for double back to get the 10%.
I was able to activate it in discover rewards tab. It’s no longer a secret. 😁

Excellent. Finally, a quarter where I’ll be able to use my It card for nearly everything, with as much as I use Samsung Pay…..or as they like to call it these days, Samsung Wallet. Too bad I can’t get 10% back for using mobile pay at gas stations. 🤣
I was such an avid user of Samsung Pay with their MST. Since they took away after S20, I have disabled Samsung pay on all my new phones. I’ll just use Google pay when needed but never will use Samsung Pay to spite them. I still prefer Samsung phones but taking away MST was the biggest disappointment, even more than audio jack.
Just get S3 frontier from eBay and use it. You’re hurting yourselves by not using it.
I still have my S3 frontier that I replaced with S4 Classic. No need to buy. I’ve actually been suggesting people to buy S10 instead since it can be used for other purposes than just paying.
I’ll still be able to spend 1500 easily using google pay. I’ll not hurt myself by lost opportunity.
I’m just sharing sheer disappointment on them giving up on their proprietary technology.
But gas stations are also included in Q3, so you get 10% back at them without Apple Pay.

This will allow me to get 5% at Walmart, Sams Club and Sams Club Gas — as Walmart gift card works at all of them. (EDIT: and since this is my first year with Discover It CashBack card, I get 10% back instead.)

Ibotta stopped allowing credit cards to purchase gift cards some time ago. Not sure how that might affect using Apple Pay with a credit card but all you can do is try and let us know if it works.
Dang the discover card in apple pay is the only card not accepted by the Ibotta app. I was going to try buying a $20 Walmart gift card.

Raise sells discounted Walmart gift cards and it takes Apple Pay.

Aldi sells gift cards according to their web site. So if I don’t reach $1500 with digital wallet, I might buy enough gift cards to reach the $1500, and use them the following months at Aldi. I am getting 10% cash back the first year, so I am definitely going to max these quarters 🙂

Discover doubles your cash back for your first year of having the card. He’ll get 5% now and another 5% on his 12th or 13th month.
Use apple map app to search nearby business, then swipe for more info and it will tell if they accept apple pay
Already have a 4% gas station card from PNC bank and
US altitude reserve have 3% unlimited digital wallet with the option to make it 4.5% for travel
So I hope you will use Discover since the cash back converts to gift cards at over 6% in most cases.
