I may be wrong but I think Publix has always had $5 off when you sign up for an account with them.

yes, pretty much “always”, but the offer usually disappears for a couple days towards the end of each month.
this offer also requires one-time-passcode cell phone number verification. the number can only be used once.; publix keeps tabs on the number.

IIRC you can use VOIP numbers like Google Voice for the one time code, doesn’t have to be cell.
