Our Verdict
Sadly not as good as the 100k point bonus we once saw, or the 80,000 point from last year. Not sure we will see the 100k again, but worth waiting for 80,000 unless you need the points immediately. JetBlue award flight prices are linked to the cash price of a ticket, much like Southwest. If you have any questions about Barclays credit cards, read this post first.
Received a (possibly targeted?) offer for 80k miles for 1k spend today that’s valid until 8/18
Just flew Jet Blue from JFK to New Orleans and got an onboard brochure offering a free first year (no $99 fee) plus 50,000 points if I spend $1,000 in the first 90 days. Might take advantage of this.
This card bonus is now down to 50,000 miles. Weak!
can someone share the promo code? dont want to take a chance (or a phone number to apply by phone where I can make sure that the signup bonus is valid)
How churnable is this one? The language is fairly harsh (“This offer is valid for approved applicants. Any bonus associated with this offer may only be earned once”) etc
anyone know when this offer expires?
Three weeks ago I applied for my first Barclays credit card (AAdvantage Aviator Red personal) and was immediately approved. Does anyone now if I applied for another Barclays personal card if I would have any chance of approval, or is it just too soon?
I applied for Barclays Aviator Red Business back in June. I applied for Jet Blue yesterday and went to pending review. I called Barclays recon today and they had to move some credit balances for me to get approved as I have 4 Barclays cards already.
Cheers, Randy:)
Do you currently have an account with Barclays ?
does 50k get me one way to try mint biz?
Yes. I’ve booked LAX > JFK for 48k points in Mint before. It’s a great value IMO.
Recently that has been the case the lowest I’ve seen is like in the low 60s and maybe once a day and it’s the latest flight out
This offer requires a promo code
00000 appears to work
What’s the likelihood that you try 00000 and then they deny you the points because it’s not legit.
That happens like 00000% of the time. I wouldn’t sweat it.
I can see why you asked that and think it is a valid question. I personally think there is A chance, but who knows how probable.
The thing I find most annoying with TrueBlue is that you cannot redeem points for Blue Basic. Sometimes I have seen a $60 premium to go in Blue vs Blue Basic. And therefore if I were ready to book Basic, you are really getting a much lesser value of points when forced to redeem at the higher Blue fare.
The great thing though is you can cancel your flights any time and get your points back with no penalty…(although fees are not).
I think of it as an insurance.
Also, Blue basic is fine if you’re certain on you travels. You only have to pay $8 – $12 per seat (compared to the $60), you get the checked bag included with the car, put your carryon/backpack under the seat and sail away. But you have a point, it’s a bummer that the pt value increases on blue fares.
