[Expired] Giant, Stop&Shop, Martin’s: Get 5x Fuel Points On All Third-Party Giftcards Or $15 Off $100 (11/3-11/23)

Deal has ended, view more Giant deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Stop&ShopGiant, Martin’s

Giant, Stop&Shop, Martin’s have an offer showing in their circular. Different stores have different offers:

  • Get 5x fuel points on all third-party gift card purchases from November 3 – 23, 2023 when you use your store loyalty card.
  • Get $15 off $100 on all third-party gift card purchases from November 3 – 23, 2023 when you use your store loyalty card.

Gift cards generally don’t earn fuel points at all at Giant/S&S/Martin’s, but occasionally they release offers like this to get points on gift card purchases. Visa and Mastercard gift cards are excluded from this offer, as are Giant/SS gift cards excluded as well.

Gas Points Details

Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon (max $1.50 discount in most). Points can be used at partner Shell locations.

Points are now usable on groceries as well, with a value of 100 points equaling a $1 discount.

  • You have 30 days to select whether you want to use the points on gas or groceries, then 30 days to actually use them.
  • See the FAQ for more details. Some of the details vary by area and store.
  • Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.

Our Verdict

5x is on all third party gift cards is nice, and it should work on top gift cards like Amazon and Best Buy. Given that points can be used to discount groceries as well these deals are more widely useful. It can potentially amount to 5% back when redeemed for groceries or 10% back when redeemed for gas.

Note, many SS/Giant stores have implemented a $2,000 limit in gift card purchases each day. They also require putting it all on a single card. Also note that some SS/Giant stores now only award points for the first purchase of the deal, so be sure to buy the full $2,000 worth in a single transaction. This offer might be limited to $2,000 across the entire promo period, let us know if you try.

The $15 off $100 deal is also nice, especially on top gift card brands. Pay with a credit card that earns a bonus at grocery stores.

5x fuel points. Would rather have the $15 off $100.

Agreed..the calculation for the fuel points would be: you are getting $30 off 20 gallons of gas by buying $300 in worst case if you don’t need gas GC OR $15 off groceries
versus
$45 off grocery when buying the $300 GC with the 15 off 100 coupon offer.
The only positive with the gas points offer is it requires less shopping and redemption trips.

Kind of contradictory fine print in the NJ 5x circular: 2000 per week per household at the top and then 2000 limit per household. Going by condition 1, it appears 6K in all is allowed as it runs for 3 weeks in all but condition 2 limits to 2K overall.

same as my local stop shop in MA. So the total limit is 2K or 6K? maybe try another $50 GC

No. System is hard coded against that. But system does allow debit cards including prepaid cards.

My store has the $15 off $100. Typically we had the 5x points. Anyone have experience if the $15 off $100 can be done more than once? TIA

I have done it in the past but note that there is either a 10 or 15 limit per card….read the fine print it should say in there. They could have changed this limit as its been 2 to 3 years back that we had the 15 (or 20 I think at that time) off here in NJ. Also the 15 off is one per redemption order.

So you mean if you buy 100*2 gift card that’s still only 15*1 off. But if you run a second order you may get 15 off the second time?

Of course. One coupon per order is only generated irrespective of if you buy for 100 or 1000. You could break it into multiple orders and try and see if each of them generates a 15 coupon. I have done it in the past and it has worked but not sure of this time.

For the gas points though up to 2000 per transaction should work as its not coupons that print but points that accumulate.

No coupon prints out for the $15 off $100 (that used to occur at safeway). It takes the $15 off the groceries that you are buying at the same time. Do not try to buy the giftcard by itself, you need groceries with it. I had over $15 in groceries I do not know what would happen if you only had $1 in groceries with the giftcard.

Nice! Besides reading circulars every week, is there a way to get alerts on GC promos from Giant?

They’re usually right here in DoC if they’re good ones.
