Shop Small Map

Not all cards are showing this offer.

Dansdeals reports that some business cards are showing a different offer:

  • Get a one-time $20 statement credit when you use your enrolled card to make a single purchase of $100 or more in-store at a small business on the Shop Small Map by 11/28/2015.

The Fine Print

  • Purchase of $10 (or $100 for business cards) can be made any time between now and 11/28/15 on a registered card to trigger the bonus
  • In-store only

Our Verdict

As we know, Amex announced they are not offering Small Business Saturday (SBS) this year. This offer is better, in a way, than previous SBS offers since we have a whole month to make use of it. The major downside is that there is no registration page and not all cards got targeted for this offer. Also, you won’t be able to sign up third part Amex cards (e.g. Fidelity or BBVA) and you won’t be able to get the offer on your prepaid cards either (I don’t see it being offered on my Serve card).

Technically, you can only get the offer on one card and it will then disappear from the other cards, but as we know you can use the multi-tab trick to save it on all cards.

It surprises me that Amex first announced that they aren’t offering a credit and then came out with this offer, as opposed to just making this offer the official advertised SBS. Maybe they want to throw people off for the future so it doesn’t come as a standard procedure anymore and will thus be abused less.

In any case, we’re happy to see this offer back!

Update: Dandeals reports that it may be possible to get yourself targeted for these offers by using a special link. See all the details here.

This offer apparently is different than the Shop Small one from last year and previous years, which was only good on the day after Black Friday. You can use it anytime up until Nov. 28th. People have used it already and got a “Congratulations” reply from Amex in their email. Other people have called Amex and have been told they are planning something to send out to everyone. Whether this is baloney or not, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Haven’t seen an offer yet, though haven’t through them all yet.

I’m guessing if you used it last year, you won’t get it this year… But I personally think it’s a stupid idea.

Maybe it will show up in a few days, but as far as I’m concerned, the Small Business “Shop Small” thing is over.

Amex is having a party, but hardly anyone is going to show up.

I’m showing with 3 of my cards and my partner with 2, as well!

Glad you won’t be at the PAR –TAY!!

Fine by me. I certainly won’t turn town a cumulative $30 spread among my 3 cards — and despite your statements to the contrary, I’m sure you won’t as well.

Oh, but I forgot, AMEX specifically excluded you from the party this year!!

My fiance and I are 0/12 on this one. It’s definitely not quite Small Business Saturday for a lot of us.

Received the offer on some of my cards and not others, AU card not targeted.

I’m going to wait a couple of days before linking the offers on those cards apparently selected in the hope that computer systems are running slow and other cards may be targeted.

Glad they brought it back in some guise, and would not be at all unhappy if AU cannot get it — my secondary cardholder suffers, but I’m glad that the 17 AU that some people have on one card may not get it!

Pigs get fat and hogs slaughtered!

Glad to see that AMEX is cracking down on those hogs.

Then ignore it if it bothers you so much.

Fortunately, however, it would appear that AMEX got the message loud and clear and even if additional cards are targeted for this offer, it would appear from anecdotal sources that AU are not targeted for this perk.

Sorry that you and your fellow piggies won’t be able to make out like bandits, this year.

It’s hard to ignore when the comment section is littered with your replies of ‘everyone is doing it wrong but me!’ You are a hypocrite.

I come to DoC for the sharing of valuable information, not to be repeatedly lectured to by some judgmental jackwagon. It’s a shame these comments aren’t better moderated; we might be spared your useless tantrums.

Ha Ha!

What gems have you produced for others to read?

You are full of crap and cry too much.

Sorry loser, that your toys have been taken away by AMEX.

Had you exercised a bit of moderation, they would not have changed the program so drastically.

No problem, Sour Grapes — I read your post below, and contrary to what you thought — if you used it last year, you also were targeted this year, as well — except for the likes of you, apparently.

I used it last year and received the offers on many of my cards — not the new cards from this year, though — but there goes your hypothesis.

Well, perhaps not.

Perhaps if you were a Big Pig last year, you did not get any offers — LIKE YOU!!

Ha Ha!

SOUR GRAPES!!

you are a true jerk… but nonetheless… this year’s $10 is nothing to last year’s $30; so I’m laughing while you are scrambling around on the very small business saturday….

You are not only a fool, but you are an idiot. What makes you think that I did not do this last year?

What makes you think that I did not take advantage of it on all my AMEX cards and that I did not get the $30 for each card.

Only a moron such as yourself would read that into what I have written.

What I did not do, nor had any plans to do this year, was to create 15 AU cards per AMEX account — like you and others who already have chimed in, presumably did.

I’m actually quite glad what AMEX did in cutting down on the abuse and leaving jerkwads such as yourself with a mountain of worthless plastic card.

Furthermore, I’m quite happy with the $30 I will be able to play with on each of my targeted cards — and I am sure that others who read this are, as well.

Only pigs such as yourself are unhappy, but I don’t believe for a minute that you will pass this up — despite your lies, as a pig such as yourself would never pass this up.

Nope, I’ve read it but felt no need to contribute.

Like others, can’t say I’m surprised but those who made the purchases before the terms change are certainly in the right.

After the change, well, if one doesn’t like it, they can always try to sue but likely won’t get anywhere.

As I have said, it is a game and one needs to read the terms and conditions carefully.

However, can’t believe the amount of self-righteous denial in some people, but then again, I should not be at all surprised! LOL!

0/16 for me.

I did add the “spend $200 on AGCs and get $10” offers, just in case any of the portals change the current terms. And to my surprise it does not disappear from the AU card after adding it to the primary.
