(YMMV) Citi Offers No Longer Stack With AA SimplyMiles Deals

Citi Offers no longer stack alongside American Airlines SimplyMiles deals. Apparently, they both run using the same provider (Fig), and when you save one deal the other one goes away or stops showing as available. I learned this just now from the comments on a Frequentmiler post.

Update: Others are saying this still works, and that it might depend on the specific offer. (1, 2)

I was able to stack the past three months with the AA Citi Exec card:
Amazon Kindle
Graham and Fisk

Granted it’s not much

I removed my Citi MC from AA SimplyMiles, wanting to use it instead for Rakuten in-store offers. But it won’t ‘link’ my Citi MC after adding it to my Rakuten wallet. Even now, a month later, I still cannot ‘link’ it. Anything I can do?

I’ve noticed that a lot of times for a given merchant, the sum of a simply miles offer and a citi offer is roughly equal to the offer available on another bank’s card. So 1) for example I would rather pursue the simpler 10% cash back from adding an offer to my Chase card than say, 7% cash + 3 AA miles hoping that both offers track, and 2) it is only fair that the citi and simply miles offers stack since they don’t add up to more than other offers readily available.

John this is old news? On my Citi Custom Cash I had Simply Miles deals and Citi offers for Chipotle and Exxon. They both stacked…..AA miles posted last week. Merchant Offer cashback posted on my most recent statement. Is this a YMMV? Or maybe this stacking is no longer allowed just for specific Citi cards?

Does adding a GCC Citi merchant offer now block the AA portal from paying out? That seems hard to believe, but is what I’ve noticed on my last few purchases (being contested). Also I’ve been using the portal w/GCC for many years.

Boooooooo! This sucks! Simplymiles and CitiOffers give us crumbs to begin with and then do the most to take them away.

I’d found them pretty valuable. For example, BofA, Chase, and US Bank give 10% back on Blue Apron, while Citi gives $25 off $50. Even Amex rarely matches them.

This is old news, it hasn’t worked for a very long time. Like you said, if you add the Citi Offer, the same offer disappears from SimplyMiles. If you add the SimplyMiles first, the Citi Offer either disappears or it doesn’t and you get an error message when trying to to add it.

Morris this certainly isn’t the case for me with my Citi Custom Cash. Just last week both the Merchant Offer posted on this card and the AA SimplyMiles posted to my account. This was for both the Chipotle and Exxon deals. Tiny amount of miles, but I’ll take the crumbs. 🙂

Unfortunately Chase doesn’t have many interesting Mastercards, though.
