Hyatt has announced award changes for 2024. There is a spreadsheet found here for easy sorting. The main points are as follows:
- Changes will go into effect on 3/26. Book by then to lock in pricing, if you book a property that decreases in price you’ll be automatically refunded.
- 65 properties will be moving up categories and increasing in price
- 21 properties will be moving down categories and decreasing in price
Not a lot of properties changing categories compared to last year.
using up Cat1-4 free nights for the last time at GH Washington DC this weekend. have stayed here in the past and it’s a great, well located property.
Hyatt House in Chicago West Loop is a gem for families (or anyone). 2 queen + pull out w/ separated living room, kitchenette, indoor rooftop pool, roof top terrace where you can bring your own food from one of the many great restaurants in walking distance. Has a garage but I’ve parked free without issues on the street outside. Sad to see this one going up but still worth it at 15k. One of my favorite hotel locations anywhere at this price point.
Let me guess, another pencil neck bean counter looking to move up always spoiling the party, geez.
maybe its a CPA that lifts?
Hyatt Carmel Highlands – an under rated property IMO, glad to see this has gone down.
Ryan Any preference for booking Hyatt Carmel Highlands vs. Hyatt Vacation Club at Highlands Inn in terms of room quality or otherwise? I’ve just seen reports of rooms being overdue for a refresh but views / setting seem unbeatable.
Woohoo inflation! Let’s Go Brandon!
ahh yes Brandon causing inflation in mexico and europe.
It’s crazy to think that, up until four years ago, there had never been an airline mile or hotel point devaluation in recorded history.
No no, Marriott nuked SPG program under Trump presidency. I’m sure blah blah would blame a republican president for that shitshow.
Imagine being so idiotic you think Brandon caused the worldwide inflation spike we are currently seeing. The 67% rate in Turkey is all Joe’s fault.
Right, Biden talked Hyatt into raising those award prices.
The 10 Highest Annual Inflation Rates in U.S. History
Remind me — who was president during these years?
We all know 2021/22 inflation was actually double digit but the gov’t used funny math to keep it in the single digits. Like how we were in a recession but the Biden admin said we weren’t because we’re just gonna change what the word means.
Jimmy Carter. I see a trend.
blah blah Yeah, Brandon changes hotel prices via points. [eyeroll]
I’ve stayed at Hyatt London City East numerous times and have an upcoming stay this weekend. It was a great deal at 9-12K. Not sure if the listed move from 12K up to 15K means it will actually now be 12-15K since it’s currently 9-12.
Was planning on booking there for a trip in Oct. Good to know that I should get a move on and get it confirmed
Thanks. Just booked some nights here.
At least they haven’t implemented the dreaded dynamic pricing for awards… yet.
Making more sense for family of 4 now to pay cash rate at Ziva in DR and Jamaica and then redeem UR via 1.5 or even 1.25 travel redemption from INK instead of transferring to Hyatt. Lots of times they have 20-25% off cash rates.
You mean book through Chase travel portal?
Chase PYB.
How? Travel isn’t a PYB category on CSR/CSP or Ink.
Doh brain freeze. Correct, portal was the way.
Thanks JP! I have my eye on Jamaica and have been trying to save my points.
if you don’t see the Hyatt hotel that you are looking for in the new list, that means the rate is staying the same right?
Yes
HR Da Nang, HR Bangkok, Manchester GH, Andaz Bali all going up a category :/
None of the properties going down a category are worth staying
Maria alila San Diego is for sure worth it. 5 star service and beautiful quiet place
