The Offer
- Barclays is offering a $200 bonus when you open a new savings account and complete the following requirements:
- Fund your account with at least $25,000 within the first 30 days of account opening
- Maintain the balance of at least $25,000 for 120 consecutive days
The Fine Print
- $200 Bonus Offer: To qualify for this bonus offer, you must be a new Barclays Savings customer (current and previous Barclays customers with a Savings account or CD are not eligible), open an account 3/4/2024 through 5/3/2024, fund your new savings account with at least $25,000 within the first 30 days of opening the account, and maintain the balance of at least $25,000 for 120 consecutive days.
- After you maintain the $25,000 balance for 120 consecutive days, the $200 bonus will be added to your account in approximately 60 days.
- Offer expires 5/3/2024.
- You may make multiple deposits to your account from another financial institution(s) to meet the offer requirements, provided these deposits all occur no later than 30 days after opening the new savings account.
- The funds deposited into your Barclays Savings account will earn the then current annual percentage yield listed on barclaysus.com/deposits for the Barclays Savings account.
- Withdrawals could affect your eligibility to earn the bonus if the withdrawal causes the account balance to drop below $25,000.
- The 120 consecutive days will not start until the $25,000 is deposited within 30 days from opening the account.
- The bonus will be applied and treated as interest for tax purposes and could require Barclays to send you a Form 1099-INT (Interest Income) and file it with the IRS for the year in which you earn the bonus.
- While there is no minimum required to open a Barclays Savings account, as described above there is a minimum balance required to earn the bonus offer.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
This account has no monthly fee
Early Account Termination Fee
Unsure if there is any EATF.
Our Verdict
Bonus works out to be 2.4% APY if you hold for exactly 120 days, base rate on the account is 4.35% so total rate is 6.75%. Better than other basic savings rates but a bit of work as well. We will add this to our list of the best saving account bonuses.

I applied and sent the the required docs on 11/12. The account was just opened today! I already forgot about it – never seen anything like this. And they have not even sent the trial deposits for the external account I specified at opening verification yet… quite efficient.
12/1: Opened account.
12/4: Verified external account, email says initial transfer will be processed in 2-3 business days.
12/12: Initial transfer as indicated in application still didn’t go through even though external account verified. Called in and said supervisor will call back.
Any one else have issues with the initial fund transfer? How long did it usually take for people’s initial fund transfer?
A lot of people have had issues with pulling funds in to Barclays.
I wouldn’t do any additional pulls, and would only push (or maybe mobile check deposit) enough into the account to keep it open (maybe push $100 into the account if it is currently at $0 balance). This will make sure the account stays open and in good standing while you try to resolve the issue. Also, before you do any pushes, make sure the account is not frozen (if it is frozen, they will likely block even pushes).
I’ve been toying with giving this a shot, but after reading your experience I’m not sure $200 is worth the risk. Barclay’s seems like a cluster.
a hard pass for me unless they change it to $300. If I already had a CD with them I would probably do it.
I’m confused by your comment. If you had a CD with them, you would be ineligible for this new bonus.
I was generalizing… any account currently open with them.
You just happened to pick 1 of the 2 (Savings being the other) account types that exclude you from ever getting a Savings bonus.
Yes its is 2.4% extra APR on top of their current 4.1% rate BUT !! A Big BUT extra APR for only 4 months and only for a 25K, No matter how you put it in picture it is a negligible amount of bonus, Better to Keep your money in a 5% account and forget about it , Not worth the hassle
The current rate is 4.5%, not 4.1%.
4.10% APY(2) on their website at Direct link to offer
That isn’t the offer. It’s an old link. Scroll through comments to find the right link.
Heh. “Big butt”
Where could we find the 5% account?
Not at Barclays… elsewhere. Denis

Important! The “direct link to offer” in the OP is old. I tried to paste the correct link here but it got flagged for spam. Google search: Barclays Tiered Savings bonus offer, and you’ll find it
Where does it say $200 bonus in the offer link URL?
I don’t see the bonus posted on the website. Anyone seeing it?
how far back are they looking for previous savings customers? i had one prob 7 or so years ago, but the language suggests if you ever had one there’s no bonus available
Well BSA requirements usually mean at least 5 years. Often banks store it longer, if not “indefinitely”. However, that doesn’t mean the record is used/checked in production with new account origination.
Link is wrong. It’s the tiered savings rather than online savings account that’s running the promotion.

sad that I opened a CD without bonus recently.
