Bilt Rewards Adds Alaska Airlines As 1:1 Transfer Partner

Bilt Rewards has added Alaska Airlines as a transfer partner. The rate is 1,000 Bilt points = 1,000 Alaska Airline miles. This is a very nice addition, hopefully we see some sort of transfer bonus that Bilt is known for. Alaska Visa Signature cardholders will earn THREE (3) Alaska miles per dollar spent up on rent up to $50,000 in annual rent instead of the 2X.

I’m long on Alaska miles and they just devalued the heck out of them… At least I finally dropped below 1M. Still a sucker for spending on the AS card for EQM. Really didn’t like to read about the Bilt inflation on top of the devaluation.

Assuming it’s 3% fee paying with Alaska Card and we max out $50,000 annual limit.

We are paying $1,500 for 104,500 extra Alaska Miles assuming one prefer transferring to Alaska Miles with Bilt Point.

That’s essentially buying Alaska Miles at 1.435 cpp so not too bad if you are in need of Alaska Miles.

Of course I personally wouldn’t do it unless I have plan for using Alaska Miles after devaluation.

Does this code as a cash advance or do they mean the 3% Bilt fee for charging the card for rent payments

3% fee from BILT. AS miles offset it with 3x back. You are just paying 1c for 1 AS mile.

As much as AS has better operations than AA, what we are really talking about is the miles program, which has historically been better with AS, though may not with the upcoming devaluation.

Will the Alaska Airlines business card also qualify? I don’t know how picky they are with language, or if the biz and personal card are basically considered the same thing.

I’m now in! Bill + Alaska Business creates a great duo.

Business isn’t eligible only personal cards. This also incurs a 3% transaction fee through BILT. You are just paying 1c for 1 AS mile. Hardly a good offer.

You can get 2-3 cents in value through partner award redemptions, so 1c per mile is great value, even just using them with Alaska. That is significantly cheaper than buying miles under the best of sales. I don’t rent, so we’re just after the multipliers on restaurants, travel, shipping, and gas. I can control about 75% of my travel expense on Rent Day, earning 4X.

For anyone else potentially interested in 3X points for paying rent with their Alaska Visa Signature card, here is the full text from the press release (with emphasis added):

Later this year, when using an Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® card to pay rent through Bilt, cardholders will be eligible to earn triple Alaska miles – 3 miles for every dollar spent on rent up to $50,000 annually. This innovative offering will reward Alaska’s loyal cardholders on their largest monthly expenditure. Terms, conditions, and fees apply.”

I’m curious if the BoA Alaska Business version will also get this benefit?

For the routes I am looking to redeem, Alaska was interchangeable with AA. Slightly less options for some domestic routes but I haven’t looked enough yet. I think with AA leaving, this is at least a good way to replace them

Replaced American Airlines with Alaska Airlines. The only constant is change.
