Tip: Expedite Chase Ultimate Rewards Points By Product Changing Card

Chase Ultimate Rewards points post and become available when you statement closes. Here’s a nice tip for getting pending points posted quicker: When you product change from one Chase Ultimate Rewards card to another Chase Ultimate Rewards card, Chase immediately calculates out the pending points and posts them immediately to your balance. You should see the points as soon as the conversion happens, even by the next day.

This is something of a drastic move just to get points posted faster, but it’s useful for someone with a specific time-sensitive award booking in mind.

I just learned about this yesterday, though apparently it’s been known for some time. As always, keep in mind that you can’t product change within the first year.

Does this work with southwest cards. Kind of in an emergency

I have some Chase Business Ink credit card points. I also have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Should I transfer my business credit card points into my Sapphire Preferred card account? Would I then be able to get more for my points when booking through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal?

It’s always good to wait until your annual fee posts first and then you can call to product change and they will refund the annual fee.

Similarly I had this happen when I converted a US Bank FlexRewards to a Cash Plus card – they were cashed out upon conversion without waiting for the minimum $25 redemption.

I can confirm this. Not intentionally for this purpose, but I PC’d old Freedom to CFF and the pending 5500 UR from UR shopping portal posted immediately.

This thread kinda motivated me to transfer some Chase UR points around

I don’t have any top partner cards with Chase , but does anybody think I can upgrade one of my Ink Biz cash to the preferred and get some sort of retention offer or maybe partial annual fee waived?

And what’s proper etiquette on when you should you downgrade back to the no annual fee version after the point conversation is done?

Old Freedom. BTW I’m sure the points were not available immediately because I waited to redeem them for costco purchases at 1.25

Do you still get a bonus if you upgrade a card?

no

That’s what I thought…why in the world would someone upgrade if they can just apply and get a bonus?

Because I have hundreds of thousands of UR to burn and value my relationship with Chase which had brought me Sapphire bonuses 5 times or so in the past

You upgraded the OG Freedom to a Sapphire Reserve? That’s not possible so something is off.

sorry for trouble, but what is meant by product changing. New to these cards and points system, so trying to learn.
