Hotels.com: Download App & Get $15 OneKeyCash

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Hotels.com is offering $15 OneKeyCash when you download the Hotels.com app

Our Verdict

Free is free. Hotels.com used to be my go to for booking with the 10 night free certificate thing but OneKeyCash and a bunch of other changes ruined that. I’ll still do this in case the program becomes useful, although that is doubtful in the next 90 days. Actually as this offer is only for new downloads I’m not eligible and even if I was I would probably save it in case a better offer came along.

Got the $15! I first clicked on the “direct link to offer” in this post and downloaded the app from there, didn’t see the added cash when I logged in. However, when I deleted the app and then scanned the QR code in this post to download the app, the app opened up with the $15 offer and a button saying “sign in to claim”. Once I signed in, I saw my onekeycash update with the added $15. Perfect to use for a VRBO booking I’m planning!

Installed the app from play store, logged in, and then scanned the QR code a few times. Got my $15 on the third or fourth scan.

what do you reccommend as the go to website for booking hotels?

questio The correct answer is whichever site offers you the best price and rewards. If you have loyalty to a specific site you’ll probably favor that one, e.g. Expedia OneKey. I was heavily loyal to Orbitz until they got rid of their credit card that was giving me 10% rewards.

I’ll use TripAdvisor to compare sites but you’ll find the price, especially for domestic hotels, will be the same across all travel portals (Booking, Expedia, Agoda). What’s annoying is that everything is going like the telecoms…hotel portals buying up others. They used to all be independent. I used to love Hotwire, but it’s owned by Expedia. I’ll try my best to find a coupon to Expedia since I’ve had good experiences with Expedia. Bank of America offers a 5% coupon.

I use cashbackmonitor to see the best cash back rates. I’ll also keep my eye on credit card merchant offers. There’s a nice one on AMEX for Marriott right now – that’ll make for a nice deal through the official site.

Even though Orbitz is Expedia’s forgotten child, the rewards system is still different and shouldn’t be slept upon. If you get 12 nights you’ll get platinum status which includes a free TSA pre check credit and $50 credit for airline luggage fees.

Also don’t sleep on Costco travel. They offer great deals.

OneKey ruined hotels.com, no thanks.

Usually hotels.com is 10% or more expensive than booking.com or direct reservations with the hotel. Very rarely reserve with hotels.com now.

I have onekey from Vrbo. I tried this offer and my onekey cash is unchanged.

Tried again and noticed it said, if you’ve received onekey cash before eligibility may vary. Since I earned normal onekey cash in VRBO they won’t give out the $15 promotion for trying the Hotels.com app unless maybe you create a separate account.

Didn’t work out for me. Installed the app by the QR code attached here and registered. Shows $0 OneKeyCash.
