[Targeted] Citi Sears (SYWR): Spending Offers For February – April

The Offer

  • Citi has sent out targeted spending bonuses on the Citi Sears card. These offers are for 2/1 through 3/31 or 4/30
    • 50,000 points for $1,500 spend on anything from 2/1 through 3/31.
    • 10% back on Home Improvement purchases or $800 each month, 2/1 through 4/30 up to $100 in monthly statement credits.

Our Verdict

This is why this is our #1 store card. Will also stack with the other offers that are good for 2025.

10% at home improvement is what I got, I’m safe to buy a gift card at home depot to trigger it right?

does anyone know if purchasing Home Depot giftcard at homedepot.com count as Home Improvement? I actually have to buy a washer, dryer and dishwasher and it is over $2k. P1 got $175k points with $1k spend and P2 got the same offer. So i was thinking buying $1k giftcard with P1 and P2 each and use them to buy the washer, dryer and dishwasher.

I just moved and the target at my new home coded as “Merchandise-DISCOUNT STORE”, whereas my old target coded as “Merchandise-GROCERY STORE,SUPERMARKET”. Does anyone know if Merchandise-DISCOUNT STORE still count as grocery category??

oh no…there is only one Target close to me at my new home…why would different Targets code differently?

I think Super Targets code one way and ordinary Targets code the other.

I am confident about this because I usually purchase gift cards at Walmart Supercenter, and they are typically categorized as Merchandise-Grocery Store or Supermarket. However, there was one instance when I bought gift cards at a different Walmart and checked out at customer service. Later, I noticed I didn’t receive the correct credit for that month. Upon reviewing my statement and the merchant code, I saw that the transaction was labeled as “N/A” for that purchase. (The Walmart I usually shoped is ok even though I checked out at CS). That’s when I realized not all Walmart purchases are coded the same way as Grocery. If you find a store where it works as expected, it’s better to continue shopping there. If you need to switch to another location, make sure to monitor the merchant code to ensure it aligns with your expectations. Just FYI.

I just got this credit card last week – after seeing these sorta nutty deals people kept getting on the regular.

I hope they don’t discontinue them now that more people (like myself) are catching on.

P1 got 175k for $1k+ per month (Feb, March, April) at home improvement and P2 got nothing. Last year P2 had a similar offer and P1 didn’t. No clue how they determine offers.

Have had it for a month but no offers yet. I don’t think I’ll get any until 90 days in or so – is this true?

We have two cards with four completely different overlapping offers. Will stock up on gift cards if nothing else.
