How It Works
- Take a picture of your receipt (including all relevant information, listed below)Â and submit it within 14 days of making your purchase:
- Date
- All items purchased, including their price

- Once approve you will receive coins that can be redeemed for rewards
- Sometimes you’ll receive tokens instead of coins, these tokens can be used to play the Hogs Slot game, where you can earn coins
What Receipts Qualify?
Your receipt must be from one of the following places to qualify for coins:
- Grocery / Supermarket
- Supercenter
- Club (Cash and Carry)
- Closeout & Discount
- Health (Chemist)
- Bargain (Dollar / Pound Shops)
- Drug & Pharmacy

In addition to this you’re restricted to 20Â receipts per week (rolling seven day period) and limit of three receipts per same store per day.
Other receipts will earn sweep stake entries and the ability to spin Hog Slots. You can view a list of those categories here.
How Many Coins Will You Earn?
The amount of coins you earn is dependent on how much the total of your receipt is for. The break down is as follows:
- $10 or less: 5 coins
- $10.01-$50: 10 coins
- $50.01-$100: 15 coins
- $100+: 20 coins
If you’ve earned more than 100 coins in a single week, any receipt you submit will just result in 5 coins being awarded.
Earning Extra Coins
You can earn extra coins by completing surveys and also by scanning specific products (usually at most two coins per item). Currently you can also get:
- 100 coins for linking e-mail
- 36 coins for linking Amazon

Our Verdict
At best you’d be able to earn 400 points per week, if you saved that for the larger redemption you’d be earning $2.6. Personally I don’t think uploading 20 receipts is worth $2.6 so I’d put this app into the waste of time category. If you think differently, let me know in the comments below.
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to comment. I scan receipts for this one, Receipt Pal, & Fetch. I come out to getting at worse $5 gift cards ($15) every 4-6 weeks (better to earn more points but don’t have patience). This is my free coffee money. Honestly, it takes a minute each day to scan receipts, & it is not noticed in my day. Make sure to scan receipts every day so the receipts don’t built up. That makes me stressed instead of scanning receipts each day during one commercial break. I write about this on my blog. I think people can benefit from extra $15/month that earn for all 3 apps. I just added Swagbucks receipts too. Again, I scan for all 4 during commercial break each day.
The app has been around a long time, the concept of it is great, I’ve used it but only redeemed once. I upgraded my iPhone at some point and didn’t reinstall it, I’m all for savings. So with this post tonight I reinstalled it and commenced to snapping 7 receipts fro just Monday to Thursday.
i use Yarloo, Receipt Hog, Receipt Pal and i scan the same receipts on all 3 of the apps without a problem, its an easy way to make some extra cash and set aside for online shopping later.
From experience, I can say that what they tell you for “How Many Coins Will You Earn?” is not how they actually award you points. Once you hit 85 coins for the week, you can get a maximum of only 15 coins, even with receipts over $100; hit 90 or 95 coins, and you get a maximum of just 10 or 5 coins, respectively. Also, the longer receipts tend to take longer to process. I’ve gotten screwed over a few times because I either wasn’t paying attention, timed my entries badly, or forgot to properly plan within the 14 days-from-purchase/7-days-to-multiply-earn-100-coins allocations.
For me, it is worth it as I also scan the same receipts into ReceiptPal and Yaarlo apps. I have been paid out multiple times from all three of these apps without any issues.
I use it and the biggest benefit for me is the ability to look back at old receipts should I need to. The pay is crap, though, since you get about 5 coins a receipt and 5 coins is worth about 3 cents.
I had it before and deleted it. It is way too time consuming for way to little return.
Youplus let you click some tags and get 2 dollars per day
I tried Youplus but they don’t show any offers unless you live in a few big cities.
Looks like they are paying people a pittance (if they actually pay out) for doing all the hard work so they can data mine the receipts, presumably to profit from the sale of the information.
If you’re using just ReceiptHog, it definitely definitely isn’t worth it. I use THREE receipt apps and probably spend 10-15 minutes per week on these snapping receipts in bulk either once or twice, which adds up to maybe 10-15 hours per year. I’m projecting that I can make about $100-150 per year, which is $10-15 per hour. There’s risk that one of these could shut down before redemption, it’s annoying collecting receipts, etc etc.
Even using three receipt apps, I’m not sure it’s worth the time
