Unfortunately this offer has now expired.
The Offer
- Receive a sign up bonus of 50,000 Citi ThankYou points after $5,000 in spend within the first three months of becoming a cardmember on the Citi Prestige when you apply at a Citi Branch [locator here].
The offer is supposed to be for Citi Gold clients, but this is actually rarely enforced.
Card Details
- Annual fee of $350
- Big changes to this card come into place on July 27th, 2017
- Make sure you’re aware of the new Citi application rule (according to their media department this doesn’t go into effect until the 28th)
Our Verdict
Previously the in branch offer was 50,000 after $3,000 in spend, but it’s good to know that this deal is still available. Might be worth signing up for this card if you haven’t opened or closed the Citi Prestige within the past 24 months (before the new rules go into place that would prevent you from getting the bonus if you opened/closed Premier/Preferred within past 24 months).
As mentioned above, it’s usually no problem to get this offer even if you don’t have Citi Gold checking account – but it varies by branch. You can view the best offers on other Citi cards by clicking here.
Hat tip to @JeffTheWanderer via Frequent Miler.
I went to the branch. The only offer he saw was 40000.
Now I went in to open a checking account so he knew that I was not a citigold client. But in any case he said the best offer he saw for prestige was 40k/4k.
And he was a fellow churner himself 🙂
Went to a branch today (8/22). Found the 50k TY pts bonus, but it already has the updated words “no bonus if you have Prestige or Premier opened or closed in the last 24 months.
Chuck,
I talked to someone from the S. California branch. they said I needed to have a citi gold checking to take advantage of the offer. Is there any way around this?
It depends on the branch, some enforce the Citigold and some don’t.
Try a different branch.
Do we need to have citi checking account to apply? I am in CA and have local Citi branch, I used to have Citi gold account which i closed recently(if its valid data point or not).
I tried two branches in Irvine, CA. No luck. They talked to me like an idiot and like 50 other people had tried the same thing.
In reference to the $350 AF.
I found an excuse to take Amtrak to D.C. to visit a dear friend, check out Capitol City Brewing, and get to a Citi branch!
Citi no longer has branches in MA…any creative ways to get this offer besides driving to a different state?
Not that I know of.
