Yesterday we looked at the Visa Savings Edge program which lets you earn extra cash back as statement credit at a variety of different merchants. OPEN savings is AmEx’s version of the same program. The only difference is that you have the option of choosing membership reward points as a bonus or cash back as statement credit.

Our Verdict
Personally I don’t find this program as attractive as the one offered by Visa, but that’s because I don’t use any of the merchants on a regular basis. For those staying at Hyatt locations regularly or who put a lot of spend through FedEx I can see why this program would be super attractive.
It’s free to sign up for, so I don’t really see the harm as AmEx already has all of this data on you anyway.
