Avoiding Fees
You need to keep the account open for six months otherwise you will forfeit the bonus. The easiest account to keep fee free is the personal checking account, this has a $5 monthly fee and this is waived if you meet any of the following requirements:
- Maintain $1,000 monthly balance
- Elect to receive eStatements
- Account holder is senior (at least 55 years of age)
- One of the account holders is a minor (less than 18 years of age)
Our Verdict
Good bonus if you live near a branch, it should be a soft pull (but please share your data points in the comments below) and it’s relatively easy to keep the account fee free. We don’t know what codes as a direct deposit yet, so also share those datapoints.
Once we’ve gotten a little bit more information, we will most likely add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Prepaid VGC for $200 or prepaid gift card to other retail store? The distinction is important…
Would be surprised if it wasn’t a $200 visa/mastercard/amex card to be honest.
It is a Visa prepaid card. Pretty standard.
Thanks, updated post.
ACH can just be Paypal?
Chexsystems won’t affect credit card apps, correct?
Don’t think paypal counts as ACH, so would need to be a bank to bank transfer I believe. Chexsystems doesn’t affect CC apps, no.
DD not required. DD or ACH required.
Also a Chex inquiry and report.
