Our Verdict

This card lets you pick a 3% category to earn cash back in, or reduce your APR on this account by 3%. You can read our full review of this card here. Seems like they are targeting people with Huntington Bank accounts, keep in mind they offer a $200 sign up bonus on their personal checking account at the moment. This is one of the better cash sign up bonuses currently available and it’s also from a smaller issuer so I’d sign up if I was targeted.

DP: My SO got a mailer for the $200 offer recently, but originally got an offer for the $100 a few months ago and didn’t open it. So perhaps this is their follow-up attempt. He used to have a Huntington checking account.

I also opened a Huntington account (his was 2015; mine was last spring), and never received an offer for either. We both used them similarly and have high credit scores, so I have no idea what made the difference.

I’d pay a few $ for that promo code actually if you don’t want to use it.

Unfortunately we did! We had to register with his SSN and birthday, as well as the code, and it pre-populated all the rest of his info so I’m not sure that it’s transferable.

Pulled Equifax, for what it’s worth.

If you are pre-approved for a Huntington card, would there still be a hard pull? Trying to figure out if a hard pull is worth it for $200.

It was a hard pull even with the preapproval, though Equifax, which is totally OK with us!

Did you get the mailer too – and if so, did you not use it? I’m looking around for one (as you can see in my comments below) since it expires today (I believe).
