Avoiding Fees
Blue Hill Bank offers a free checking account, the only requirement is that you must open it with at least $10. Their fee schedule says that there is an early account termination fee of $25 if the account is closed within 90 days.
Our Verdict
This is the best deal they have ever offered by far, previous deals were for $300 in Uber credit or $200 in cash. Really nice that there is no monthly fee to worry about and the requirements are fairly easy to meet. This is easily one of the best checking bonuses currently available. Shame it’s only available in branch at Seaport and it’s not $350 like last year.

Any idea if this is still alive?
I opened the account on 7/31/18 and did multiple $500+ pushes from Schwab Brokerage, Incredible Bank, Fidelity Cash Management, and Discover Checking during the 60-day window. I just received the $300 promo bonus on 10/3/18.
did any of them code differently on the transaction info? I tried a discover checking transfer and it says “P2P” so im thinking that wont count. did any of yours show up as “PPD”, if so which one? also timing wise, how quickly did you get the bonus compared to when you did the deposits?
Fat fingers this morning… I meant to say has anyone done an ACH transfer to count as a bonus (like Fidelity)
Jas anyone ACH to nake the bonus? Like Fidelity?

Any DP on if you need an MA address for this one? I work around the area but live out of state.
same question. unable to discern from the previous comments. are you thinking of going in branch to try? i might give it a go sometime in the next couple weeks
DP: went in branch to test it out. You need to have a physical address in the state of MA to apply.
thanks, saved me a trip. i had called their phone line and was told that opening an account wouldnt be an issue if lived out of state (and work in state). but the actual branch is definitely the more reliable source of info. wondering if i could use my brother’s mailing address who lives in MA….
Has anyone else who has received a checking bonus from Blue Hills Bank received a 1099-INT?
Got $350 bonus 7/5. Thanks DoC
Update. Got my $350 bonus July 5th.
Glad to hear it
