The Offer
No direct link, see flyer
- Bring this certificate when opening any new Bridgeview Bank Personal Checking account and receive a bonus of $175 when you complete the following requirements:
- $100 minimum opening
- Direct deposit of at least $300 (not specifically mentioned, but the $300 requirement was mentioned when you sign up). Must post to account by January 27th, 2018.
- According to this comment there are plenty of flyers in branch and you should be able to just ask about this deal.
The Fine Print
- Offer not valid if you have closed an account within 90 days
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Edge checking account is required, this has a $18 monthly fee that is waived if you do any of the following:
- Have a minimum balance of $250
- 4 debit card transactions
- Receive a direct deposit of $300+
There is also an early account termination fee of $25, plus you forfeit the bonus if the account is closed within 180 days of opening.
Our Verdict
Not a bad deal considering it’s a soft pull and it’s fairly easy to keep the account fee free. Downside is you need to open in branch, but you could pair that with opening their 5% APY account (just be sure to bring lots of coins with you). We will be adding it to our list of the best checking bonuses available.

Opened in late June. Did Chase Business and Paypal transfers in June and July. I don’t know which triggered the bonus or if both did. Both on same statement.
Bonus posted today 9 October. I was thinking of closing account because I assumed I wouldn’t get the $150 credit. Glad I didn’t.
I just went into the branch off of 55th street. No flyers, banker said the promotion with the same terms is only $150. Will visit the forementioned branches with flyers to see if it’s still $175.
I just called this bank and asked about opening online –
I was told you can just open online and DD $300 and you will receive the bonus. I will DP again later to confirm
Did you open online?
DP
I just received this bonus but after opening online, I had to call in and ask for the bonus after 30 days. They then proceeded to want verification from my employer “Bluebird” (; I got around this but it’s likely best to actually go into a branch and sign up with the coupon.
Also note that bluebird/serve doesn’t seem to be a valid DD with them
6/2: Opened account
6/20: DD $300 via bluebird
7/21: received bonus after call-in, verification
Cap One 360 does NOT work.
I’m not one to try 10 different methods, so I’m gonna shut this one down.
You can ask for the flyer/open account at the Halsted branch.
Any data points for what counts as direct deposit?
Ally works. I suspect many others would as well. Bonus posted very soon after my ACH, so if you don’t see it in a few days try a different one.
In how many days bonus got posted after ACH??
Update on this?? Tried Ally, has been a couple days and no bonus yet. Also tried chase, no dice either.
Ally Bank ACH did not work for me. Capital One 360, Alliant, and Fidelity did not work either.
The branch off lakeshore drive has a stack of them but when I asked about it a different branch they also knew what I was taking about and handed me the flyer.
In the Vernon Hills branch currently opening this.
Stacks of these flyers here.
I went to the one at 1970 N Halsted St
Chicago, IL 60614, and I couldn’t see any flyer. However, I did open a pennywise saving account with 30 pounds of coins. Five more trips to fill up that account to $3,000.
I’ll try to go to the one at Midway to see if there is any flyer for the checking account if I can
Huh. I would have just asked them about it I guess. Branch where I saw these was on Harlem Ave in Bridgeview.
I did ask them and they didn’t know about the flyer. I’ll try to go to the one near Midway airport next Monday . Thank you for your reply
I went to the one at Harlem ave today and I saw flyers
I had actually been intrigued by their “Penny Wise” savings account — which pays 5% interest if you deposit coins. Since I have no problem being the type of person that’ll ask a bank for odd amounts of money, I could’ve easily done the 3K maximum.
So I decided to call and see if an out-of-state person could open both accounts by going into the branch. They said “No — because we are a community bank.” It can not be opened up online, either.
I had been planning on opening one during my next Chicago trip (when I’ll also be opening a Chase account)
P.S. William: This page says the monthly charge is both $8 & $18
Fixed, thanks
