Update 6/20/19: Aer Lingus is now bookable with Alaska miles. Value seems to be poor, I’d recommend reading the Traveling For Miles post here for more in depth coverage.
Original post: Aer Lingus will begin flying between Seattle & Dublin on May 18th. It looks like Aer Lingus will partner with Alaska Airlines according to this piece in the Seattle Times. Relevant portions:
- “In an interview, Chief Executive Stephen Kavanagh said Aer Lingus will partner with Alaska Airlines to serve business and tourist travel between here and Ireland.”
- “Because connecting Aer Lingus flights with a U.S. network in Seattle is equally important, Kavanagh said he met with Alaska CEO Brad Tilden in recent weeks and the two plan to announce a formal partnership before flights commence in May.”
- “That means Aer Lingus and Alaska frequent-flyer miles will be usable across the two airlines and Seattle connections can be booked along with the Dublin flight.”
Aer Lingus will also be launching a co-branded credit card partnership with Chase sometime in Spring.
Hat tip to reader Calvin M
Has anyone inputted Alaska account into an Aer Lingus itinerary? Haven’t seen my Alaska account updated with any points..
I see 280,000 Alaska miles one way for a biz class ticket on Aer Lingus!
So between the aerlingus and British airways card one could manage to have 125,000 miles good on Alaska. x2 for 2 player mode. That’s quite a few trips to Hawaii.
This means that you will be able to fly Alaska with UR points?
We can pray and we can hope…
You can use UR to British Airways Avios to book Alaska, not searchable online, you have to call in (make sure they waive the telephone booking fee), availability usually mirrors what AA.com shows.
Yay, my first desktop notification, thanks Will, no need to check Twitter twice a day or else I’ll surely miss the next leaked Plat/whatever.
I can’t get AS miles due to BoA’s Alaska card asshole antics, but I’m swimming in Avios, so I like this.
