Earlier we posted a deal Office Depot/Max was offering. Basically you could purchase two cases of paper for 55.98 and then file a rebate and get $80 in Office Depot gift cards. Unfortunately mid way through the promotion Office Depot changed the rebate form to require the purchase to be made in store (this meant you couldn’t apply the online promotion, making this a dud deal). I don’t have an issue with that, but Office Depot should be expected to honor the promotion based on the terms when people bought the product otherwise it’s a classic bait and switch.
Below you can view the full old rebate in case you need to file it. The new rebate (with the in store restriction) can be viewed here.
Hat tip to reader Paul P for sending in the old rebate.
woo hoo just got my $80 gift card, already used it.
FYI: I received the full rebate ($80 gift card) gift card six times today for six different orders.
Update: Received $80 rebate gift card today. I submitted the rebate online on April 13.
Update –
Just received an OD Gift Card for $40 in the mail today 5/11/18
I just received an $80 rebate in the mail today and my sister also received hers! Good deal!
I got an email saying a $40 rebate is in the works and should be shipped within 30 days… great, assuming it comes, and except the major problem being that it should be for $80…
To my surprise, after 1 month of waiting, the rebate actually get processed.
Just received an email: Congratulations! Your reward for the Boise X9 10 Ream Case $40 Rebate on a Office Depot Gift Card has been mailed to the following address:
If after 30 days you have not received your reward, please call us at 1-866-541-0284.
Sincerely,
Office Depot Promotions
According to the Rebate Center, my $80 rebate has been mailed! If so, WONDERFUL! I tried to cancel my order at one point because it didn’t arrive when they said it would. I received it almost a week later.
My rebate status online has been saying “Null” all this time. I just checked it right now and it says rebate mailed and the amount is $80.
Same. It looks like if you filled out the rebate before they changed it to online only purchases, they will honor it.
I also see my rebate status changed to Rebate Mailed. I placed the online order on 4/10/18 and picked it up soon (4/11 or 4/12) but didn’t submit the rebate until the end of April. It seems they’re actually honoring them if the purchase is early enough.
To give an update I’ve been checking my OD rewards every day since CSR promised to credit the $80 to compensate for the rebate change and their rebate department denying it.
Today I checked and the $80 finally showed up!! It’s good for anything in OD/OM and online excluding Gift Cards. So you can use it to roll rewards, get Ink, snacks, whatever.
Definitely a positive experience for me, paid the $59.97 I’m a VIP Member so received free shipping (good because those things are heavy!) also received 5% back from Chase Ink Cash, 3% from Ebates and another 2% from OD/OM Rewards (that one can take a month or two to process though).
All in all a great deal, I hope the rest of you are able to get the same results! Hats off to DOC and especially the person who kept a copy of the original rebate! I’ll definitely be screenshotting rebates from now on.
Is the “Rebate Value” where the $40 showed up? Mine still shows as $0.
OD Return policy: “Office supplies (excluding Office Depot® Brand and OfficeMax® Brand products), unopened, may be exchanged or returned for a full refund within 90 days of purchase. For online orders, the date of delivery will be determined as the date of purchase.”
If OD decides not to play fair on the rebate, I will place 1 phone call to request that they honor the original rebate and if that is a no-go, the paper reams go back to my local OD.
