Acorns investment is currently offering $250 back when you signup as an Airbnb host and host your first guest. Simply click through the Acorns link and you’ll get $250 added to your Acorns account automatically when your first hosting is complete.
The Fine Print
- This offer is for new Airbnb hosts only.
- Must tap on the link found in your Acorns account and complete registration within the same session.
- You must successfully complete the eligible transaction between midnight (Pacific Time) on July 12, 2018 and midnight (Pacific Time) on August 12, 2018.
- You will typically be notified within 72 hours of successfully completing an eligible transaction, and contributions to your Acorns account will typically be posted within 120 days thereafter.
- Eligibility to participate in certain promotions may require the allowance of cookies on the applicable mobile or desktop device, and may also require other device settings as determined by Acorns from time to time.
- To the extent an Acorns customer believes that they are entitled to a reward that has not been contributed to such customer’s Acorns account, such customer must notify Acorns within 60 days from the applicable transaction date by either sending an email to [email protected] or completing and submitting a support request at https://www.acorns.com/support/contact.
Our Verdict
This is a terrific offer given that there’s no mention of a minimum booking amount; even a 1-day rental of a room or whatnot should trigger the $250 credit. Typically the offers are for less and/or have minimum booking requirements. Update: they now added a $200 minimum booking requirement to get the reward.
Acorns has a $5 referral bonus for both the new member and the referring member, so long as the new member makes an investment. They also run a larger bonus offer, usually $1,000, most months, for those who refer many people. Appreciate if you use my referral link for signing up with Acorns. You can alternatively signup through Swagbucks and get a $7 bonus.
Did anyone save the original T&C? Initially they did not have $200 requirement on the banner, now they have added it…
Also interested in this. I did all the steps but my first guest booking was not for $200 or more. Feel like it’s unfair to change the terms after I completed the original requirements.

The guest has to spend $200, so not that great of an offer.

Maybe an unethical question: Could you just have your spouse pay to rent a room for one night and get this bonus?
People have been denied AirBnB bonuses in the past for doing this – it is supposed to be a “legitimate” booking.
Might work with an out of state friend who already uses AirBnB or maybe paying a stranger on Fivve or Reddit a few bucks to make a booking.
Do you think since this is an Acorns bonus, not Airbnb, that it could work?
It is an AirBnB bonus. It’s just being paid through Acorns. The idea is AirBnB wants more hosts (to hopefully become an ongoing source of income for AirBnB), so AirBnB is paying Acorns some small referral/advertising fee for Acorns to promote this offer, and AirBnB funds the new host’s $250 payment after seeing through AirBnB’s own data that the host has met the requirements. Acorns wouldn’t be paying $250 out of their own pockets to give AirBnB more business.
Where do you think the money is ultimately coming from? Its AirBnB; certainly not Acorns. These are referrals, not charity.

i dont see why not. im just going to sign up as a host and have my friend book for one night at my place. isn’t it that simple? im not too familiar with airbnb so not sure yet but my understanding of the offer is that this will trigger the $250
Bonuses have been denied in the past for fraudulent bookings.
IIRC, it was an AMEX Offer(?) that was being denied in the past. I don’t recall details but people definitely talked about being denied because they booked a friend’s listing to get a bonus on Reddit.
I didn’t check the ToC on this offer but the generic referral program has this language: “No payment will be made for listings created by current or former Airbnb Hosts, or for bookings made by family or friends of the Referred Host, or for bookings where either the Referred Host or the Referred Host’s listing has the same address as you.”
understood completely but i dont see how they can figure out or outright claim that a friend of yours is booking..obviously if its a family member with the same last name or if you share the same address with your spouse then thats a red flag..but if you just have a random friend book, i dont see how airbnb can make the determination to deny you the bonus
Did you only have one booking with a guest who also only had one booking and lives in the same town as you? Probably not getting the bonus.
