[Targeted] Chase $25 Savings Promotion

A few readers have sent me in information regarding a $25 Chase savings promotion. Given that we see bonuses of $150-$225 regularly this isn’t too attractive to most readers, just keep in mind this small $25 bonus doesn’t have any deposit requirement, whereas those other bonuses do require $10,000-$25,000 in funds. To receive this bonus all you need to do is set up a repeating automatic monthly transfer from your Chase checking account to your new savings account of $25 or more within 30 days of account opening and maintain it for at least three consecutive months.

Not the most amazing bonus, but Chase doesn’t do any ChexSystems inquiry so might be worth considering for those that don’t have a large cash pile they can use for the bigger bonuses. Thanks to everybody who sent this one in.

Opened my chase savings account on Oct 4th, 2018 and setup automatic transfer of $25 on first of every month. After 3 months waiting and contacting chase about the promotional bonus, first I was told that I had to wait until one more transfer to happen. However, when I told the customer service representative, that there were three transfers that happened on 1st Nov, 31st Nov and 1 Jan, the representative told me that because the two transfers happened on 1st Nov and 31st Nov, they don’t get considered as two transfers, but rather one. And when I ask her, if I would be eligible after the next transfer, she came up with a new excuse stating that the 3 transfers had to be completed before 2nd Jan 2018.

Now here is my question. If chase automatic transfer system is so flawed that even though you schedule your transfer on 1st of every month, I have no clue as to how in the world, it would deduct on 31st of Nov. instead on 1st December.

Also , on the promotional email that I received, there was no mention on the date deadline before which transfers have to happen, even though there was a deadline only to open the account. I don’t understand where she made it up from.

So, I ended up closing my savings account. Don’t get me wrong. Having been a chase customer for over 3 years with chase as my salaried account and after following all the steps mentioned in the promotional email, I certainly expected Chase to do much better job in handling this issue than just finding a stupid excuse for their goofed up system which is so flawed.

Not worth anyone’s time and money and I certainly would re think , if I have to continue with Chase.

This would be better if it wasn’t targeted. Kind of diminishes the benefit since I don’t have 10k to float around but I can’t guarantee this bonus when I become re-eligible to open my Chase checking account for the $300 bonus next week.

This is a new low for bank bonuses…

I actually did a $25 bonus for a Bank of America savings account in 2004, so this isn’t a “new” low… though if you consider inflation I guess it is.

Why? You open an account(s), get the bonuses and then set up a monthly auto transfer and get another $25. I did it a couple years ago, set up $100 transfer for 6 months. Took like two minutes online. Easiest $25 I ever made. Didn’t take time, the money was already there for the bonuses and didn’t have to leave the house.

And not do the $150/$225/$300 bonuses? The tracking and the paperwork + loss of opportunity means this is not productive enough for me.. But to each their own..

I think Celia is saying you can do both $150/$225/$300 bonus and then this $25 by way of setting up automatic transfers.. but not sure if that is possible with the current offer. It seems they have added the 2 years verbiage on $25 bonus offer as well!

If this was the typical bonus amount ($25), then my mother-in-law would be right for scoffing at me for doing all this “hard work” to get these bonuses….
