The Fine Print
- Valid October 11, 2018 through October 31, 2018.
- Must be set to process on or before Wednesday, October 31, 2018. On the payment review screen, click the blue “Delivered by” under the Amount & Schedule section. A window will pop up and show you the processing date for the payment.
- Your account will be credited with the fee-free dollars on November 1, 2018.
- Mastercard payments only.
- Must pay a fee of at least 2.5% of amount on that payment (ex., no FFDs can be applied).
Our Verdict
It essentially ends up to be a 1.25% fee instead of the standard 2.5% fee since you’ll get free future processing for whatever amount you spend. Nice deal, but Mastercard only makes it harder to take advantage of. Remember, this offer is targeted.

just a point for next time (should be obvious, but I did that stupid mistake): if you apply even 1 FFD to that payment, it makes the whole payment ineligible for the promo! so if you want apply FFDs, split it in 2 payments. I hate Plastiq :/

I don’t understand the update “Also, it’s been confirmed that Mastercard gift cards are working to trigger the promo as well.” How was it confirmed since ffds dont get awarded til 11/1? The link on the word “confirmed” doesn’t seem to be working.
Today people targeted got an email showing the number of FFD they received to date on the promo. If you used MCGC during this period, it counted.

Anyone having problem using Vanilla Visa card on Plastiq or PayPal recently? Neither seems to work now, claiming rejected by card issuer.
Vanilla Visa and Metabank VGC have not been working on Plastiq for me either.
I just got an email from Plastiq reminding me of this offer, and it tells me “As of today, you’ll be credited xxx.xx fee-free dollars”; if that’s correct, it means a couple things:
MCGC counts (at least, when paying 2.5% fee) even though they’re prepaid cards.
You don’t get FFD for the fees you paid, just for the non-fee amount.
I tried to set up payment today for November and it did not count the fee-free dollars. Email says they will be credited Nov 1st so you have to wait until then to use them for Nov payments.
I didn’t get any email confirming my payment was generating FFDs even though I got the original email with the offer (and followed all the rules i.e,Mastercard, 2.5%, after 10/11, before 10/31). Are we supposed to get an email about the FFDs after the payment has been scheduled/processed/sent?
I don’t think you’ll necessarily get an email after each payment. It seemed like this email was just a general reminder about the offer (subject was “Less than 10 days to earn FFDs”), that they may or may not send to everyone or just randomly to some people.
Right, I got one that said I’ll be getting $0 in FFD (I didn’t make any Plastiq payments recently).
Today( Monday 10.22.2018) is the last day you can take advantage of this offer. I currently only have one option for payment date – October 31st.
