Citi has just sent out a bunch of targeted spending bonuses on different credit cards. It’s always a good idea to regularly call Citi for these types of offers. Let’s have a quick look at what people have been offered:
- Citi Excutive:
- 3x miles on all purchases (cap of 2,500 bonus miles or $1,250 in spending)Â until June 30th, 2015
- 3x miles on all gas, restaurant and grocery purchases (cap of 2,500 bonues miles or $1,250 in spending) until June 30th, 2015
- Diamond Preferred:
- Simplicity:
If you didn’t receive any of these offers (and even if you did) call Citi and ask if there are any spending bonuses tied to your account (and make sure you ask if there is more than one). Chuck recently did just that with some rather impressive results. In fact, don’t just do it for Citi – do it for every card issuer. Here are some guidelines and tips which are an absolute must read.
Citi seem to be sending out a lot more targeted spending bonuses, presumably to try and ensure that their cards are front of wallet. I’m certainly not complaining.
These seem to be targeted, but Citi is offering these promotions again this summer. I received an email offering 5% cash back up to $25 (i.e. $500 spend, via statement credit) at restaurants, show theaters, and movie theaters through 9/30/17. There’s also one for Citi Thank You Preferred – 5% cash back on grocery, gas, drugstore, and transport. Also ends 9/30/17. You must opt in for both offers by 8/31/17.
Sorry, first offer at restaurants and theaters is for the Citi Simplicity.
I got an offer via email for 4x at various types of stores (department, home and garden, etc.) on the Hilton Reserve, but a read of the fine print showed that it was not an extra 4x, but rather an extra 1x plus the usual 3x to make the 4x, so the offer is not that great.
I sent a secure message asking when the bonus miles would be credited – as the purchase posts or at the end of the promotion. They responded confirming that the bonus miles will post on your account at the end of the promotion.
This sucks for me because I plan on changing my Citi AA Executive to a Dividend card before the annual fee comes due next month, so there’s not much point in wasting my time.
Probably a good way of trying to get a decent retention bonus though, some people have been able to get the AF refunded with $5k in spend.
I got the $450 annual fee credited but needed 15k of spend (5k of spend for 3 months).
I got offered 3x miles at computer and electronics on AAdvantage Business
