AARP To End Rewards For Good Program, Replaced By AARP Rewards

Update 9/22/19: Few more days to use points. Will Run For Miles has some suggestions on what to use them for.

Update 8/29/19: You’ll actually have until September 24th, 2019 to use existing points. Hat tip to reader Bob

Original post: AARP has announced that it will be replacing the current Rewards For Good Program with a new program called AARP Rewards on September 1st, 2019. You’ll be able to earn Rewards For Good points until July 25 at 11:59 p.m. ET and existing points must be used by September 1st, 2019.

Personally I find it ridiculous that they are ending one program, replacing it with another and not letting you convert the points between the two programs. The existing program is fairly useless, so fingers crossed the new program is more rewarding.

I was hopeful. Only disappointed now.
AARP Rewards is live now and it’s very disappointing, from glitches to being poorly organized and not having the things most important to us, it’s a big fail.

Well it is past Sept. 1st 2019 so we lost all our points. Darn, darn, darn.

That is some fraudulent program. They roll it up with virtually no notice and zero out all accounts? I will say I am not happy with how AARP does their marketing programs with partners and how they deal with member complaints.

Alliance Data is currently trying to acquire Chase’s AARP portfolio

AARP Rewards is actually the original name. From the good ole days…

It’s a good thing they’re killing off the existing points. Some people have accumulated millions with bots and it makes it impossible to redeem for anything useful

Agreed. Nothing like spending 100k pts for a $5 Amazon gift card…

I am trying to redeem my points, but unable to do so as I can’t get into the area to redeem. I’ve changed my password and contacted AARP numerous times for help with no luck. What good is the points if you are unable to use.

Crap, only two months left. I have thousands of points. I don’t know what the best redemption is.

Same here. I used to have a (fairly hidden) pretty good redemption but that went away this year and since then there isn’t anything worth a darn. I sent a message saying this would make me end my membership with the non-conversion of points and they just do not care.

The one thing I currently use it for is Carnival Cruise gift cards. Always nice to save 10% on your whole cruise.

You can get 10% cash back for Carnival via Raise Pay.

Same here. I’ve saved a fortune and with three booked will save more. I’m loading up. Lol.

Alas, there were so many missed opportunities for cheesy headlines on this post, like:

AARP To Retire Rewards For Good Program, Replaced By AARP Rewards

or

AARP To End Rewards For Good Program, For Good (Replaced By AARP Rewards)
