The ABOC Platinum Rewards Card will no longer offering rotating 5% categories starting August 27, 2021 and all purchases will instead earn 1% on all purchases. Obviously this is a huge negative change.

I only had this card for the rewards. I hated that you can only redeem at 1.33points/$1 or 3200 points for a $25 gift card. I waited until I reached 25,000 so I get get a $250 Amazon card. They had good categories but it was a long wait before redemption.
This is more like a bait & switch job
I’m glad that I didn’t waste the HP(s), nor waste the 5/24 slot, nor yet another line on the credit report. That was a pretty drastic reduction… but I’m going to speculate that enough folks were using the card for ONLY the 5% categories.
This is why small banks can be hard to rely on for these sorts of things.
I have this card. Never really used it in the first place since the points could only be used for travel or gift cards, not straight cash. No AF so no need to cancel but will definitely be staying in the sock drawer for good.

Well, that’s a worthless card now. Glad I didn’t get approved when I tried last year, but the application process was super outdated. Took 3+ weeks to even get a snail mail update on the application and no one on the phone can tell you anything. Glad I did not get an account.
