Cereal Added Sugar Lawsuit
There was a class action lawsuit that was filed against Post Foods that stated they made misleading claims that the cereals were healthy, the Plaintiffs allege due to the added sugar they are unhealthy. Post Foods maintains the statements are true but has agreed to settle the lawsuit.
Who Is Eligible?
You’re eligible if you purchased selected Post Foods brand cereals between August 29, 2012 and November 2, 2020. Full list of products can be found here, but some sample brands include: Honey Bunches of Oats, Great Grains, Raisin Bran, Bran Flakes, Honey Bunches of Oats Granola, Selects, Honeycomb, Shredded Wheat, Alpha-Bits, Waffle Crisp, and Golden Crisp.
How Much Will You Get?
It’s estimated that each claimant will get an average $14.28, but this will depend on how many claims are made and the basis of those claims. The settlement pool is $15,000,000
Important Dates
- May 19th: Submit claim form, ask to be excluded or object
- June 23rd: Fairness hearing
Our Verdict
I always think it’s worth filing for these no matter how small (unless you’re planning on objecting or filing your own claim). Always a good idea to keep these companies honest and money talks.
