The Fine Print
- Full fine print here
- We base your Cash Bonus calculation on the New Money you deposit into an eligible Online Savings account, Money Market account, or CD at Ally Bank between 10/12/2022 and 10/31/2022 (and then keep in your account through 1/15/2023). This means money you
move out of Ally Bank and then back in won’t qualify for the bonus, and any withdrawals
you make from an Online Savings account, Money Market account, or CD between
10/12/2022 and 1/15/2023 may reduce your bonus amount. - All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Monthly Fees
The savings account and CDs have no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Funds need to be kept in the account until 1/15/2023 to receive the full bonus. There will be early exit fees on the CDs as well (forfeited insurance)
Our Verdict
They have offered similar bonuses in the past but with a lower maximum cap of $250 in bonuses. You need to tie money up for 2 and half months but I’d say 3 months to be safe. This works out to be an additional 4% APY and the account already earns at 2.25% bringing the total to 6.25% and making this is a very good short term deal. We will add it to our list of the best savings bonuses.

Ally has a known system issues of not clearing all ACH draws, regardless of the balance in your checking accounts. I linked my ComEd utility bill to Ally after making Ally as my hub. However, ComEd blocked my autopayment privilege after two attempts of autopays were not processed. I had the same autopay issues with my Chase credit cards with Ally this month too. Ally reimbursed me all the fees, but now I cannot use autopay for utility bill and have a higher risk of being banned by Chase for all the returned payments… Most ACH draws do clear from Ally, but not clearing all the ACH can create a big problem for depositors…
It’s so encouraging that many people received their bonus recently. Hopefully, we will get ours in the coming days.
Got my bonus today as well.
Do not feel joy because of the whole ordeal.
I hate to beg for something I’ve been promised to.
Also got the bonus today. Took 2 cases and a CFPB complaint.
Got the bonus as well, and agreed on your views — it has been a herculean task, multiple calls to reps and at one point I spent over an hour going over the simple math of the bonus. Lost my good opinion of Ally after this ordeal.
P1 & P2 had Joint Savings with large balance just before the bonus offer was announced (bad timing). Opened Money Market account in P2’s name and didn’t touch the $50k, but money was flowing in/out of Joint Savings. Received about 1/4 of the bonus and had three chats with Ally. First CSR said we were qualified for the full bonus; second said they were still looking into it; third said the case was still open but noted the large withdrawals from Joint Savings. Have almost given hope but surprised to receive the rest of the bonus today!
$500 bonus paid today as described in the proofpoint secure message. This is after changing my email during the funding period.
Update: got my bonus today (no email/ notice). I figured my case was a lost cause, probably more complex than others’, so I would say don’t give up hope that you will get it if you haven’t.
Asked chat for an update today as per usual and was told that they’re aware of the bonus hold up and all the cases are marked as “on backlog”. I’m going to file a complaint with the CFPB.
Same here. I will also file a complaint with CFBP.
Got my bonus yesterday. I’ve never changed my email address. Ally did not close my account.
Update: I filed a complaint on 3/21 and Ally closed my accounts today.
Just logged in again and the bonus is present. My account previously said closed this morning but I was able to transfer out.
Still fighting for the bonus with only worthless promises from Ally bank.
Complained to CFPB with no results yet.
Going to contact Diane Morais, presumably their CEO.
Would appreciate if someone knows her email address.
In the same boat, still waiting. Plan to file complaint to CFPB next week. Will contact Ally management if necessary. Please keep us posted. BTW, have you tried to contact Ally through social media, facebook, twitter…?
Same for me, I’m still waiting for my $500.00. I did file with the CFPB on 3/11 and on 3/13 CFPB emailed me and said “the company has responded and is still working on your issue.” I like the idea of contacting their CEO, who I believe is Jeffrey Brown. Diane Morais is the President, Consumer & Commercial Banking at Ally Bank. I couldn’t find email addresses but snail mail should work fine. At my company, when the CEO received a customer complaint we jumped to fix it!
Still have not received my bonus as of 3/20/23. I have called 3 times and they say that it is a known issue and they are trying to determine the cause before they pay out the bonus. I can’t believe that Ally has not sent a letter or some communication to everyone to at least update the status. I wonder if Ally is one of the banks that is in trouble!
Never got the bonus. I have full documentation that I met every term of the offer including their e-mail confirming I was enrolled. It’s now 17 business days since I filed my complaint and they created a ticket number. They have not even given me the courtesy of a follow-up response. I called several times and they told me nothing except promises to get back to me within x days that they broke both times they made them.
Ditto. I also have all the documentation and during one call they even agreed that I was due the bonus. I also opened up a ticket on 2/16, waited 17 business days, and still no bonus, not even a follow-up to my complaint. I called four times and just received broken promises and a vague inference that my case had been escalated. On 3/7 I warned them if I didn’t receive my bonus by 3/10 I would file a formal complaint with CFPB, which I did on 3/11. Today I received and email from CFPB saying that “the company has responded and is still working on your issue.” To those who haven’t received your bonus, I suggest you do the same. P.S. I did change my email address in December which may be contributing to their issues.
Update: Got an email from the reviews team and they will be crediting my bonus by 3/31/23.
Congrats! I did online chat on 2/16/23, After several useless excuses, the agent finally agreed to send my request to special team for investigation. No response since. I was not given any ticket #. Did you have one when making the request? Hope I will hear back from them soon.
Yes, I did have an ticket number, it took 11 business days for them to look at it. It was kind of weird because the email came from a secure mail provider, it kind of looked scammy at first but it was linked through the ally website.
Still nothing as of 3/22/23, they really are taking their sweet time to give me the bonus, I’ll see by 3/31 if I get it as promised.
3/29, nothing yet.
Check now buddy!
$500 bonus paid today as described in the proofpoint secure message. This is after changing my email during the funding period.
Me too! Finally got paid my $500 today at 1:30pm. I never received a secure message or email from them. I had changed my email in December.
i hope you are getting it with interest since the bonus was due on 2/16/23. i hope i don’t have to file a complaint to get mine.
