Ally has launched a pilot referral program. The person being referred receives a $100 bonus and the person referring receives a $50 referral bonus. The person being referred needs to receive a direct deposit within 60 days of sign up to receive the bonus. The standard Ally bonus is 1% of the deposit and that is available for new & existing customers, as that offer works for existing customers you’d be able to do both of these if that offer returns.

Did you mean your P2 received a $100 bonus? You said you never received a referral link from Ally but your P2 has the link.
I hope Ally does not mess up and send the bonus to the wrong person.
Yes, it was my P2. I wasn’t cool enough to get my own link. My P2 did not use a referral link as she has had an account for years.

According to the terms, “Your $100 welcome bonus will be deposited within 30 days of receiving your qualifying direct deposit.” So it should be fast.
Can anybody comment on how long it takes to receive the referral link emails? I was going to loop P2 in from my recently opened account from one of the referral links, but I’m wondering if you need to be a well established account to be eligible.
I’ve had my Ally account several years before my P2 (2018 vs 2022)… she got a link, I did not.

I recently went into my Ally profile settings and turned off marketing options, and then instantly turned them back on. Hoping that helps, but I have my doubts.
Does anybody knows if Money Market Account pulls Chex System?
I would expect them to pull Chex, similar to when you open an Ally Spending or Savings account as a new customer. BTW, money market account is not an eligible account for the referral program.
I’m opening a trading for the bonus but wanted a money market just for it being very useful, as I’m already with Ally credentials, why not?
Good to know the money market account is not intended for the bonus in your plan. There have been several DPs that existing Ally deposit account holders may avoid the Chex pull when opening another deposit account. If you are just an invest account holder, I think very likely Ally will try to pull your Chex when you open a deposit account with them for the first time, but who knows? One strategy to potentially avoid the Chex pull you may consider is to freeze your Chex and then apply for the money market account. If they ask you to unfreeze your Chex, then you can decide if you want to continue with the application or not.
I’ve tried to get couple agents nswer me that question specific question they were not understanding (they only said it will be a soft credit pull). I’m 99% sure spending or savings will pull Chex even if I already have the Investing, I’m starting to think Money Market will too, I’m not too worried about the pull itself but if they deny me due to being about 12/6, the Chex freeze idea was a good one!
Anyone else’s application taking more than 3 business days to get approved?
I applied 7 days ago and on the same day received an email asking to ‘complete a ChexSystems lift’ and to reply ‘COMPLETE’ within their linked Secure Portal when done. I thawed it that day and replied within the portal but haven’t had any contact from them since.
Just wanted to know if I should be aware of anything before calling them.
