- Amazon is offering two All-new Echo Dot (4th Gen) For $44.99 with promo code PDDOT2PK
Our Verdict
Personally I don’t need any more of these smart speakers, but if you do then this is a good deal.
Code PDDOT2PK doesn’t work for me or P2 (“The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase. “)
The same here. It doesn’t work
The Echo devices (my devices with my account at least) have recently gotten a bit too spam-y. I’m occasionally getting advertised random products after asking what the weather is or getting yellow-light notifications asking me to review products I ordered weeks ago.
I’m not going to go out of my wayside immediately replace the Echo devices I already have, but I don’t think I’ll be buying any new Amazon devices going forward. Maybe in the future an Apple HomePod or something like that.
I want something that isn’t actively trying to sell me something. Which means I’m partly to blame for buying an Amazon device and hoping to not to get actively sold other products. (In my defense though:) At the time I purchased my Echos, it wasn’t anywhere near this spam-y. It wasn’t even this bad (for me) until a few months ago.
I haven’t checked yet, but are there any Echo device settings options to keep the spam away/keep it at a minimum?
*go out of my way immediately
100% agree with my echo trying to ‘upsell’ me at every turn by asking if I want to do extra stuff. All I want to know is how much time left on my timer or what the weather is! If anyone has a way to turn this off, please let me know.
Alexa App > Settings > Notifications > Amazon Shopping > Toggle off “Requests to Rate Products You’ve Purchased”
Thank you, LiteSalt. I turned off “Recommendations & Deals”, “Requests to Rate” and most of the other shopping related notifications as well. Super helpful. Thank you again!
I agree, Matt. I dread hearing the words, “By the way …”.
It must be expensive to put the clock in it because they never have it on sale.
Honestly they probably would prefer you ask “Alexa what time is it.” And get you conditioned with her.
