Yes the battery is easily replaceable. Just note that if you use Duracell or other batteries with a bitter taste coating, you will likely need to use hand sanitizer or alcohol to remove the coating. Otherwise the battery cannot make contact with AirTag. I learned this the hard way and after some research.

Doesn’t the battery run out at some point? Is it replaceable? If not how to know how old the inventory is.

Yes. These use coin-type batteries available at most stores for few bucks a piece (cheaper online) and can be replaced in a matter of seconds. Battery usually lasts a year or more and your phone will let you know when it’s low and needs replacement.

Surprisingly for an Apple product, it uses a normal, user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery.

It uses a cr2032 battery that even someone wirh low mechanical skill cam change. In my experience they last 12-18 months depending on usage.

For your second question, im not aware there is a way to know that. That said it shouldn’t matter there’s a piece of pull out plastic in between the battery in the unit when they’re in the box, so they’re not actually active until you pull that out and let it make contact.
