Amazon: Airpods Pro for $174.99

Update 3/20/22: Back at this price at Amazon. Has been awhile since they were on sale.

Amazon and Costco.com are selling Airpods Pro for $174.99:

These rarely sell below $190. If you’re buying on Amazon, you can stack with shop-with-points deals as well for additional savings.

The Costco deal is slated to end on August 21 and has a limit 2. I’d guess Amazon will keep their deal for that long as well, we’ll see; the Amazon deal has a limit of 3.

Was this an error post? Don’t see listing on either site, even after searching around.

Are these available at costco in store at the same (or lower?) price? Wife wants for Christmas. Buy now and lose 3 months warranty while it sits or wait for this price again?

I mean… yeah. Saying “wait” is definitely something someone with an iPhone 6 would say. Someone with an old phone who is happy to wait a while for a better phone would also be happy to wait a while for better earphones.

Yeah, that checks. Lol

Airpods Pro is a lot worse in terms of comfortability than airpods. that’s why you see a lot more discount of pro

I think it depends. I can’t wear AirPods because they fallout when I jog. AirPods Pros fit more snug and don’t fall out for me. Both models are due for refresh soon so maybe that’s why the surge of discounts maybe?

How do the pro compare to the original ones? Is it worth upgrading?

The are very different. The pro’s use ear tips with 3 interchangeable ear tips for a more snug fit. Regular AirPods are one size fits most. Pro’s also offer active notice cancelation and Apple’s spatial audio which mimic’s 3D/surround sound. Worth the upgrade would depend if you care about those extras.

Are airpods really sooooo much better than a good $30 knockoff? Color me skeptical.

When they work, they work seamlessly if you have an iPhone. I had AirPods (not pro) in the first year they came out. They’ve been replaced under warranty a few times about once a year. My most recent pair has been going strong for nearly two years. The only issues I’ve had were no sound when connected and extreme battery drain.

“Soooo much better”? Yes. That’s a definite yes to your question.

For one, there is no such thing as a good $30 knockoff AirPods. You can certainly buy a $30 knockoff AirPods, but it won’t be good. It most likely won’t even be decent. And it might actually be dangerous.

If you were to ask if AirPods are worth $250 full price (or $180 on sale), that would be better question. But to ask if they are better than a terribly-made knockoff product that could explode in your ear due to a malfunctioning battery… that’s a very easy question to answer.

And yes, any lithium battery in any device can explode. But it’s fair to say that a lithium battery found in a cheap knockoff would be FAR(!!!) more likely to do so.

When it comes to devices with lithium batteries inside, don’t go for the knockoffs.

A knockoff would be the equivalent of yesteryear’s boombox. And I mean BOOM!
