Update 4/29/20: Offer is still available. Ends tomorrow, 4/30/20.
Update 4/19/20: Extended to 4/30/20 (previously was showing 4/20/20 expiration). The Discover deal still shows 4/20/20 expiration so use that one up first.
Update 4/16/20: More readers targeted
Update 4/8/20: Working on gift cards again according to some readers.
Update 4/5/20: One report of this working again after using a few days ago. Let us know if you can replicate this.
Update 3/31/20: More targeted.
Update 3/24/20: Offer is showing again. It’s been extended to 4/20/20. Seems like it’s working again for some who have used it in the past. Worked for me and others. (hat tip to Dansdeals) This deal no longer work on gift cards, only ordinary items shipped and sold by Amazon.
Note, there’s also a live $20/$40 discount available. If you have both on your account, system should let you use one and the another on a second purchase. That deal still works on gift cards.
Update 2/20/20: Seems this offer has continued; I’m still seeing it as working on one account which I hadn’t used. Not sure what the updated expiration is, but for now it’s still working. (Note: it does not seem possible to now save the offer; it’s still working for those who already have the offer saved to their Amazon account.)
Update 2/1/20: Looks like this offer now is back showing the 2/15/20 end-date (as it had been showing initially), so there’s still a couple weeks remaining. Separately, Amex released a $20/$50 or $40/$100 promo which goes through the month of March. If you are enrolled in both offers, you can use each one separately; the first order you make, it’ll apply the 20% offer, and after that’s used it’ll apply the $20/$40 offer.
Update 1/31/20: Last day.
Update 1/20/20: They changed the end date to 1/31/20 (previously it was 2/29/20). Less than 2 weeks left.

F.A.Q’s
Do you need prime to do this deal?
Why isn’t it working for me?
This offer is targeted, but you can check these things:
- Make sure you’ve activated the offer first.
- Make sure your Membership Rewards account is linked to your Amazon account (do that here).
- Make sure you’re applying at least one Membership Rewards point at checkout.
- Try removing all of your Membership Rewards cards, then adding one back and linking it again. (original post)
- Bonus option: You can try removing all credit cards on your Amazon account apart from one Membership Rewards card. This has worked in the past, so maybe it’ll work for this.
Can you use this across multiple accounts?
It should work once on each account. Hard to know for certain that Amazon won’t have a problem with that.
Can I pay with my Amazon gift card balance in conjunction with Shop with Points?
Yes. Check out the post How to Use an Amazon Gift Card with a Shop-with-Points Order for 3 methods:
- Gift card balance is less than the purchase amount.
- Apply a gift card and it ‘unlocks’ your gift card balance.
- Set the points card as your default payment method.
Can I use the 20% across a bunch of small orders until I hit $50?
Yes, that’s worked for me in previous offers.
Our Verdict
We’ve seen similar offers multiple times before, usually whenever a new offer like this comes along it can be done again. If you’re not targeted then follow these instructions. Stacks nicely with the warehouse deal for another 20% off. If you found this post helpful, consider giving it a retweet on twitter.
This deal works on third party gift cards, but presumably not Amazon or Visa gift cards. Samples gift cards available on Amazon:

Looks like amazon does not allow purchasing egift card with amazon gift card anymore. Physical gc is fine
They do, just did it a couple of hours ago.
Also the deadline was removed from the offer page, I think it’ll continue
This was working for me, placed a few orders – then suddenly it wasn’t working any more. Maybe they pulled it early? I definitely didn’t hit the $50 cap.
Worked for me on third party gift cards today
+1 — William Charles Chuck Third-party gift cards still appear to be working.
So thankful you post these. They almost always work and I’ve easily collected hundreds in freebies because of it. Thanks Doc.
Doesn’t work for me for Amazon gift cards (ecard or physical), but does work for other products. If I put a product and a gift card in the shopping cart, the discount is only applied to the price of the product.
These never worked for amazon gift cards
I must have mentally confused this with a different (Amex) offer. Thanks.
I got the AirPods Pro for $204 total and it was boss. I’m in love with the automatic noise canceling option, which helped me not to throw a shoe through my window when Con Edison was authorized to break quarantine to interrupt my sleep at 8:35 this morning.
I like the Airpods Pro as well, but I actually didn’t find the noise cancellation working that great for me. I might need a tighter fit, but overall it was just a mild noise reduction for me, like, I can still converse with someone standing next to me and hear the other person.
The latest firmware ruined it. Google and you will se a tons of complaints
Can’t wait for the next one! Let this one die already.
how do we know if it is a new offer vs extension of existing offer?
If it lets you do it again, then you’ll know it gave you a new offer. Just see if there’s a discount at checkout.
sometimes we have to try remove/add the card again for new offers to work. not sure if there is a way to distinguish if it is an offer already redeemed or a new offer doesn’t work.
Shouldn’t have closed all my MR-earning cards. Sigh!
I didn’t have any need to transfer to Amex partners, so closed MR-earning accounts.
Just used this, worked on physical gift cards.
It works for me on egift cards from Netflix and Google Pay. Doesn’t work on Amazon physical or egift cards.
