Amazon will allow most orders shipped between October 1 – December 31, 2021 to be returned through January 31, 2022. That’s a whopping 4-month return policy for items purchased on October 1st.

Many retailers expand their return window for the holiday season. Amazon used to extend November and December purchases through January 31, and last year they added October in as well. Sellers hate the extended return window (sorry to our Amazon-seller readers!), but it’s certainly a nice feature for consumers.

I bought a house and have been buying a lot more, but also my returns have gone up as well. I’m getting more cautious on the number of returns I make…should I be? Curious how strict they get.
It depends what you return, specifically electronics.
One of two big ticket electronics items can trigger a warning. I had a friend buy a $1k gaming monitor used for $900 off warehouse. It was labeled like new condition, but when he received it it had a hole in the screen the size of a baseball.
He returned it and received a warning immediately thereafter due to the price of it. It was his only electronics return in the past two years and his only other return for the past two years was a $5 cooking mitt.
Good to know they issue warnings. Most of my items are under $200 or $100. I. might be safe…for now.
Love Amazon for this. Them doing this forces other retailers to adopt similar policies.
Be careful with this. I took advantage of this offer last year, and had to argue on every single return made past the regular 30 day window.
Hmm, weird, I would assume the automated system should include the holiday return policy
Not my experience. I had probably one item that had a solid 30 day return order but that is because it was not sold by amazon.
