The Fine Print
- Valid through May 14, 2023.
- An email will be sent within a few minutes confirming the qualifying purchase was successful and the $5 credit was added to your account to use on your next purchase.
- The promotional credit is valid until June 29, 2023.

Our Verdict
Easy $5 win here for Prime members. Can be done once on each Amazon Prime account. Pay with the Chase Freedom card to get 5x points this quarter.
it’s not letting me add it to my cart saying if you’re buying it for yourself use the reload gift card method instead because it’s faster etc.

It’s been a while with Prime. Aren’t these gift cards just for the bought and sold by Amazon? That kinda sucks.
Gift cards can be used on any product but the $5 credit can only be used on something listed as shipped and sold by Amazon.

One problem with this deal is, the $5 is a “promotional credit”. If you cancel an order or have to return the item, this $5 credit is NON-REFUNDABLE. This is an issue because the quality of the Amazon products shipped has really gone down the tubes. I think I had to recently return about half of the stuff I bought in the past few months. Before, I rarely had to do a return. I got a $10 promotional credit a couple months ago because of all the problems I have been having with their products. I then used it to buy a set of coffee mugs, and it turned out the mugs were horrific and unusable. I had to return them. So I lost the $10 promotional credit lol. I am going to pass on this deal.
Also I have notice their prices aren’t as good as they were. They charge 5 to 10% more than most other stores including walmart.com etc.. I find myself buying more and more from brick & mortar stores now along with walmart.com and sams.com.
Did you try chatting and asking them for credit?
Nah I gave up.. already spent the time chatting with them when I got the promotional credit in the first place. Exhausted. So many returns, it’s ridiculous how much broken or very flawed stuff I’ve gotten from them lately.
Those days are long gone, support doesn’t just give out credits to every complaining (even if valid) customers anymore.
Cool-NOT cool. Amazon would not let me use my Staples Special VGC or an Amex gift card (even though they sent a $.10 pending charge to it). A+ fraud protection.
Does it trigger the $5 credit if one buys two $25 gift cards in the same purchase? Checkout total would be $50

So it’a 15% off deal in total .. with the Chase Amazon Prime card? I have that card. That’s pretty sweet. Only problem is Amazon is becoming not as good a place to shop as they tend to charge more than Walmart and other stores on many things.
It’s not really 15% off since the 10% is a promotional credit that most likely can only be used on shipped/sold by Amazon and has an expiration date.

Yes.
Every Gift Card I’ve bought from Amazon, I’ve paid for with the PRIME card from Amazon, and it also paid 5% on gift cards to Amazon. This should be NO different.

YUP!! Got it, AND the added 5% of $50 on my Amazon [Chase] Prime card = 2.5.. So, $50 cost me 42.50 today! Yay!
FYI — If it matters… Extended Warranty thru Amazon cards is ONLY @ 12 months MAX. Citi Cards, even the free ones, (EXCEPT FOR COSTCO), offer up to TWO added years, which includes LABOR, if offered. FI, I bought a HWH HEAT PUMP w/ 10 year PARTS and only 1 year LABOR. I lost 1% using it, (about $15), but got added 24 mo labor warranty.
Citi ended the 24 month extended warranty for most cards awhile back. Ended it for the Costco version in January.
