Update 7/12/19: Amazon has released an official press release including a number of deals that will be offered. In addition deals will be available from July 13th for those with an Amazon Alexa device (just say ‘Alexa, what are my deals?’)
Update 6/25/19: Amazon has officially announced Prime Day as being 48 hours, July 15 and July 16 (up from 36 hours last year).
Update 6/24/19: Earlier today the Amazon Assistant add-on for Chrome sent out a notification stating the July 15th, 2019 start date. Expect it to be officially confirmed in the coming days. Usually there are a lot of deals in the lead up to Prime (and I usually find the lead up deals to be better than Prime day itself), so I suspect those will start happening soon as well. Amazon Prime Day is coming soon.Â
Cnet reports it’ll be on Monday, July 15, 2019, based on a leaked PR email. Last year it ran from Monday noon PT until Tuesday midnight PT, so it’s quite possible it’ll be July 15th and 16th again this year. Expect there to be an uptick in deals the week before as well.

Amazon prime Credit cards (Chase & Amex) will earn 6% back on Prime day instead of the usual 5%
We got that, thanks
Unless you really need it the next day or in two days, please consider opting for regular shipping and having your packages delivered together
Last mile delivery has serious implications for carbon emissions when you get the one-off package, and I won’t even begin to describe the human toll of workers having to get packages in a matter of seconds across giant warehouses, all for the sake of a need for speed. The cases against Amazon are piling up: https://youtu.be/d9m7d07k22A
These are people, not machines, and your choices matter. Unless you’re some sort of sadist, your pop socket can wait a day or two
I agree, been trying to get my family and friends to choose standard shipping, not just for the credit. I asked Amazon if there was a way to change the default shipping speed and of course there isn’t. I’ve noticed for standard shipping it often comes beforehand anyway…
Makes me feel good that I stopped my prime membership this year after years of subscription. I now mostly wait till I have enough for free shipping before ordering and sometimes it takes 2 weeks for the package to arrive but that’s ok.

confirmed on amazon.com:
Prime Day is back July 15 & 16 for a two-day parade of epic deals.
The deal preview looks pretty un-epic. I am surprised to see so much no-name junk featured in the preview. I guess this is what sells nowadays.
I have to make some significant home improvement purchases, mainly power tools. Are there usually deals on this kind of stuff or not really?
It would be ideal for me to buy them before then so I’d only want to wait if they always have really good deals I can be confident on.
Thanks!
Usually there is some stuff, my recommendation is to use something like camelcamelcamel on the items you’re interested in and see if they dropped for prime day last year. Keep in mind Amazon usually has some sitewide discounts as well
Thank you!
T Unlikely – I wouldn’t wait. Maybe a few tools will be discounted, but not a lot, like a cordless drill, same kind of stuff you see on Black Friday. You could Google Prime Day 2018 to see what was discounted last year. Example: https://toolguyd.com/amazon-prime-day-2018-tool-deals/ From what I remember, most of what I see come up on Prime Day is electronic items. Usually some clothing deals, or household items, but that is hit or miss too.
You’re probably better off just shopping around for the items you need and getting them when you need them. Try to pair that with a new CC min. spend bonus and get your discount that way.
Chase, Discover, and Citi Div all offer 5% on Home Improvement on quarterly basis, but that may not cover tool purchases from some places (i.e. almost anywhere other than Home Depot and Lowes). Pair that with a 10% military discount I get at Lowes and HD and it’s almost a good deal.
Another idea.. if you are looking for cheap tools, is Harbor Freight. Some of their stuff is pretty decent. It’s not heirloom quality, but if you have a couple projects to do, it’s probably good enough. They offer 20% off coupons in the ValPak or elsewhere, and there is some dude that does a phone app that has a ton of individual coupons if you don’t already get a coupon book in the mail. I have several of their tools and other than the $5 fake Dremel (which I figured going in it was a POS), I have no complaints. I heard a rule on tools… buy the cheapest you can find… and if you wear it out, buy the best. Take that with a grain of salt, but if it is a once and done tool, who cares if it’s quality as long as it works and gets the job done. There are exceptions to every rule, and if you know you want a quality tool that you can use daily, then skip the re-buying and buy the best. Good luck!
Super helpful, thank you!
Buy the cheapest you can find… and if you wear it out, buy the best, great word!
Harbor freight counts for home improvement 5% categories in my experience. http://www.hfqpdb.com is better than the app, but you should use both. Also sign up for the text messages at checkout to get extra coupons. They take phone coupons found on the site and app too, just scan at checkout.
Check out BigSkyTools. That’s where I’ve purchased some reconditioned Hitachi tools.
I’m excited for my first Prime Day as a retailer. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype.
Can’t really afford to discount my products heavily, so I’m hoping for increased traffic to work it’s magic.
For what it’s worth, Amazon has asked we get our products in by June 27th. Typical time delay between products hitting an IXD and being available for sale is 10 days give or take, with the rush that we’re experiencing now I could see July 15th being about right. Maybe a few days earlier but not much later. Pure speculation though.
As a seller have you tried getting the Amazon Business credit card and pay for your Amazon sponsored ads? Was wondering if we could get 5% off with the card. That would be a huge boon to sellers who spend on ads.
But 15 is not a prime number…
lol good one
That was the best comment! Love it
At least 7 is.
Hope they allow redemption of Hilton points at .50 cents again.
P Interesting. 1. Didn’t know Amazon accepts Hilton points. 2. I am seeing like 1/3 of a cent valuation when I was planning a trip for this summer, with $100 a night hotels wanting 25-30K+ in points. I would gladly dump at least some of my stash at that .5 rate.
https://www.amazon.com/hp/shopwithpoints/account/
this is the link to link your hilton account (also discover, MR, UR) if you haven’t done so.
Thanks. I was aware they took other CC points like UR/MR etc, but the 70% or whatever it is return is a non-starter. I guess I just assumed hotel points are only for hotels. With Discover, UR/MR, I would never cash out at Amazon, other than the promos requiring it.
I was about to say that! I cashed out 200k points the last time the offered it.
Can’t wait, i gotta allot of spend to meet with these cc bonuses.
I remember last year’s gift card deals being amazing–20% off up to $500. I think we profited $400 or so. Looking forward to this year.
