Amazon has a Prime members special on LifeStraw:
- LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for Hiking, Camping, Travel, and Emergency Preparedness for $9.99 (affiliate link)
This seems like something to have for travelers/adventurers. Usually sells for $17-$20. Offer ends at midnight PT on October 14th.
Keep an eye out, this seems to be OOS from amazon and is only 3x the price from other sellers.
OOS as of Wednesday morning.
Life Straw …laying down to drink. I would not waste my money on this item. Sawyer Squeeze or Katadian are better options for back country water filtration.
Buy stripen instead
Or put water in a bottle/bowl and use it standing up or sitting!
This is an incredibly specific case, but we bought one of these for my son when he did a Wilderness Survival merit badge for scouting, and it was useful to him.
Apparently you gotta lie down while using this straw, and it doesn’t filter the salt out of sea water. Just an FYI. Might be good for camping trips or something.
No conventional filter can remove the salt from salt water. You’d need reverse osmosis, which takes 40 psi minimum. Think bike pump, not straw.
I’m not sure why they show pictures of people sticking this into a river. Put an empty bottle in the river, then filter between the bottle and your mouth.
