Important note: you have to enter code APPLEGIFT at checkout.

Careful with these cards (not the usual scam warning, keep reading please).

If you live in a state that charges sales tax and you attempt to use these cards in a state that doesn’t charge sales tax (AK, OR, DE, MT), after having loaded them into your account, you will not be able to use them, online or in-store using tap-to-pay. Apple has instituted some new checks and balances with this, probably due to pressure from states that lose on the tax revenue to people who cross state lines to Apple stores with no sales tax.

You miiiight be able to redeem them if you don’t add them to your account. But, if they associate a state with the redemption code at the time of sale, then there’s nothing you can do.

Ignore my post above. It turns out I had a block on my account from making any purchase, not just store pickup. Had to call apple to get it looked into. Within a few hours I was able to make a purchase again for store pickup.

Spunky123 My post was predicated on the fact that when I went to go buy them in-store at a no-tax Apple store and tried to use my balance, the guy at the store told me that it was probably a tax issue. Considering the error was new to me (usually I expect to see the “payment declined” error when blocked), I figured it was the truth. Had I tried to do shipping before making the post above, I would have received the “payment declined” issue and then known it was in fact a block.

TDD The block is a well-known issue. If you load a bunch of gift cards into your Apple balance, you are blocked from making any purchase until the account is unblocked. I ran into this about a year and a half ago when trying to buy a laptop for P3, and again for P2. Had to call, wait, and then buy within the 24-hour unblocked window. The second time I did not get their message in time, missed the 24-hour window, and had to start the process over again.

Incidentally, I can confirm that Apple does not care about crossing state lines. P2 wanted a very pricey MBP, so I picked it up in NH during a business trip to Boston — drove 45 min to save $350.

Can you do this across many Amazon accounts or do you get quantity limit restriction cancelations?

These “credits” are horrible. Hard pass.

Exactly! what are we supposed to do with Amazon credits? Does Amazon even sell anything good or useful?

I still have 1k apple credit since 2020… Amazon always has better price than Apple anyway except some customized macs which Amazon doesnt carry.

Amazon often has better prices. However, you do have a $1000 Apple Balance. You have essentially already bought the equivalent of an M4 Mac Mini and a 10th Gen iPad… except you haven’t received the products yet. Eventually you just gotta, you know, spend it (regardless of whatever sale price Amazon has).

thats true. I bought an AppleTV from Apple since there was no lower prices anywhere else. I am planning to upgrade my Macbook but luckily it’s still working well (macbook pro 2018 with 32gb RAM which is pretty much future-proof). I don’t use Apple Music or iCloud either. So, i am still figuring out what to buy lol…

The best value is in Apple certified refurbished items that are sometimes less than similar items on Amazon or eBay. YMMV…Good Luck!!!

Yup. (Official) Apple refurbs are the only refurbished products that I buy. They’re indistinguishable from new, come with the full product warranty, and are eligible for AppleCare if that’s important to you. Plus, you can use gift cards that you’ve stockpiled through these sorts of offers.

Cool. Thank you for the info. I wonder why they are waiting until the 29th when other retailers have similar deals up already. Either way:

I already have the $100 gift card in my cart. Was waiting for this typical Black Friday sale to stack it with my AMEX offer.

Just $10 with a minimum spend of $75.

I haven’t been getting the percentage offers recently . Just the specific dollar amount offers. Not sure why, but a stackable offer is still a stackable offer.

Expecting that it plays well with the amex offer – “Earn 1,200 additional Membership Rewards® points after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $150 in one or more purchases online at Amazon.com by 12/31/2024. Limit of 3,600 total Membership Rewards points.”
