Amazon decided to continue the partnership with Chase on their Prime Rewards Visa Signature card, according to CNBC. Amazon had been exploring other partnerships on the card instead, as well as changing from Visa to Mastercard, but ends up inking a “multi-year” deal with Chase.
Amazon partners with three credit card issuers to issue co-branded Amazon cards: Chase issues the personal credit card, American Express issues the business card, and Synchrony issues the store card.
Oh I initially read this as “Amazon removes partnership…” whew, glad that’s not happening!
I wonder what will happen with my ancient Chase Amazon Business Visa card. Hmmmm… Not really super valuable, but no incentive to get rid of it either.
My oldest card in my credit history. . . also the oldest in the sock drawer.
GM card is the king of worthless
Funny that Amazon Visa is my oldest card and GM card is my second oldest.
Received 5% gas/travel and 3% grocery on chase amazon card for up to $1500.
Amazon did not have to Chase this deal to make it happen.
I was kind of hoping that it would go to Amex so that my massive Amazon spend would go over to Amex and get me out of pop-up jail. I signed up for the American Express Amazon business card but despite my high spend it doesn’t seem to get me out of pop-up jail on personal cards. I can happily apply for business ones.
Pop-up jail is based on opening and closing of cards, and the way to possibly get out of it is to put some spend on ALL of your Amex cards, not just big spend on one of your Amex cards. But if you keep applying for business cards, that’ll likely keep you in pop-up jail, because the jail is mostly based on your pattern of opening and closing of cards. That pop-up jail is one of Amex’s anti-churning measures, just as 5/24 is Chase’s.

Also, Amex has a 5 (typically) credit card limit per person, so you max that out with business cards, you won’t have room for personal cards anyway. That’s only credit cards, it doesn’t count charge cards (like Gold and Plat), but reports are that for some obscure reason Amex has started counting the Green as a “credit” card.
So for those reasons maybe you should happy that it stayed with Chase. Chase has no limit on how many credit cards you can have, while Amex does. And Chase doesn’t have “pop-up jail” with unknown exact terms, they just have the well-defined 5/24 policy. And I don’t think Amex “pop-up jail” can be exited with bigger spend on just one card, it has been reported in datapoints to be existed with quite modest spend spread across all Amex cards, with no “massive” spend on any of them (while not applying for any other Amex cards, of course).
One of my young friend is waiting (for credit history) to get their Chase Amazon card. Would be a huge disappointment if Amazon switch Amex, because their family visits Costco and goes to Chinese restaurants.
hahahaha
You will pay cash in Chinese Restaurant anyway to receive that 10% discount, since you are waived CC fees and sales tax.
Any insight as to whether or not these cards are affected by 5/24?
Because its Amazon LOL
