Update 3/17/24: Negative change starting in April – that they are no longer allowing dining/gas/transit receipts, and now you can only upload highly specific receipts to get a bonus. They also made a change that now each receipt will earn a reward separately. (hat tip to Ryan Goldstein)

Update 11/1/20: Seems to be worth installing the app as some people have reported being accepted into the program after installing it (and no e-mail received so check your app periodically). Hat tip to reader Kris

Original Post:

Amazon has launched a new invite only program called ‘Amazon Shopper Panel’ where you can earn $10+ per month by scanning receipts and completing short surveys. The basic part of the program is that you submit ten or more receipts per month (on purchases made outside of Amazon.com) and you receive a $10 credit or donation to a charity of your choice. You can then earn additional rewards by completing surveys.

Most receipt uploading programs are not worth doing due to the low payouts, but this works out to be $1 per receipt uploaded if you upload 10. Unfortunately the program is invite only and there doesn’t seem to be any way to request an invite. You can download the app to join the wait list though.

William Charles New negative change: The $2 monthly reward for “Ad verification” is going away 10/1/24. Instead, they imply staying enrolled will get you relevant surveys.

ieatdogfood, seems the app is racing to the bottom? Next Receipt (Dog) Hog will start looking good.

Cool. You made me log into the app and I had 2x 10 cent surveys. 🤑

Started at the bottom. Now we here. 🪦

I have been getting 5-10 surveys per month… 10-25 cents. P2 gets 1-2. Usually products that I would have no interest in & never about adult diapers and flea & tick spray. Bad algorithms.

It seems to me that this app wants to be discontinued. You get $.15 we’re going to the grocery store when you spend the astronomical amount come on Amazon. This is ridiculous.

What a let down I have 2.45 for what I was getting 10.00 for today. For me I don’t think it’s going to be worth the trouble. Time will tell

All right, now that we have an angry crowd that’s really going to speak the truth….

Are P1 and P2 teams (and more) using the exact same receipts?

I try to play along with the rules until the rules are not in my favor.

I think it’s impossible to do so. I have, in the past, accidentally uploaded a receipt that P2 had already uploaded, and it was invariably flagged as having been used by another panelist.

Ok, thanks. I figured as much, but I wondered if I shouldn’t have tossed mine.

I did 34 successful receipts two days ago that were laying around from last month. Total earned $5.80. Not horrible, but not great. P2 & I would have normally been done and started collecting new ones for the following month.

I refuse to do Receipt Hog and other apps for pennies. To each their own.

Additional DP: misclassification seems common under the new rules because if the Amazon system misreads the receipt for any reason, it defaults to $0.15. Requesting review is not effective, as review is not done by a human being. However, HUCA often works — delete the uploaded receipt, take another photo, and try again.

Some early DPs under the new differential receipt system:

(1) In-store receipts from major home improvement, sports, and clothing stores processed correctly at $1.00.

(2) All e-mailed receipts from major clothing retailers processed incorrectly for $0.15 each. Requested review; no change.

(3) Smaller hardware and clothing stores, even if nominally falling within the $1.00 category, are processed as $0.15 because they are not on Amazon’s internal approved list. No way to request review because that process requires choosing a store name from the approved list.

7-Eleven gas receipts work for 15 cents. All other gas stations – denied.
Parking garage worked for 15 cents.

WMNM come in as 25 cents, vs 15 that I expected. Wasn’t sure if “big box” meant warehouse or the big-time retailers (WM/Target).

I am not to the point I will delete the app, but don’t see me making a special trip to buy 10 nuts and screws. Have a feeling that $1 reward will change soon if that is what they are getting from John Q. Public. Party on!

Half my Wal-Mart receipt got marked as not eligible so I don’t think this is worth anymore.

How can they only mark half of a receipt as ineligible? Did you mean to write that half of your Walmart receipts (with an s) have been denied?

Yikes, this was my way of justifying Prime. Guess I’ll contemplate that renewal now.

I guess I will stop by Home Depot and buy ten $0.20 nails and use the self checkout to do 10 transactions once a month.
