Amazon Smart Thermostat $41.99 (Potentially Free After Rebate)

Amazon has their smart thermostat on sale (affiliate links below):

Many states and cities have programs when you buy smart thermostats which conserve energy. Amazon has a zip code checker on the product page where you can see what’s being offered in your area. Often these can be purchased at no cost after the rebate. (It’s possible there’s even a moneymaker opportunity in some areas, but it’ll depend on the area, I’ve seen some cities that specifically disallow that.) In fact, you won’t want to use up your Shop With Points discounts on these if your city will cover the full cost.

Also get 10% back on this item with the Amazon credit card; that should stack with any city rebate you get since it comes to separately on your credit card.

The smart thermostat is marked down from the regular $59.99 price. As we’ve noted many times before, if you have a Shop With Points promo, the percentage discount will come off the original price creating an excellent discounts.

It’s not there on the page.

Does anybody have a direct link?

Just beneath the price at the top there’s a sentence that says “Rebates may be available from your energy provider. Terms apply. Learn more”. “Learn more” is a link to the rebate zip code checker. My zip code didn’t work.

use your “find” function in your browser and type in “Rebate” and it should help you.

Anyone ever read the fine print on these things? What kind of data do they collect on you/your household, do they ever have the right/ability to change your thermostat?

Some cities have separate company for gas and electric. Be sure to check both companies. So happens my gas company DTE will cover up to $50 while it’s $100 if you’re gas and electric.

But my electric company will offer an instant discount when buying from their store.

Hmm, you know I just ordered an ecobee on LADWP’s marketplace but now I see SoCal gas offers a $50 rebate as well, can I double dip there even if I ordered it with a discount already?

I did 🙂 I had to provided the electric store order receipt. Last year I had an instant rebate bring the device down to like 44. Submitted and got $44 check.

Did it again this year but I had to pay $99, submitted the receipt and got the full $50.

From my experience you will only get up to $50.

But for folks who buy from amazon and have 2 separate utilities. I don’t see why this cannot be a money maker!

FYI – my electric company says I can get their savings twice. Not sure if that means in an entire lifetime at the same location or a year. I would of done this if I hadn’t already got 2 ecobee rebates from my electric & gas.

Thanks, I will definitely submit with my gas company for the $50 and see what happens!
