The Offer
Direct Link to offer – (Link your ThankYou here) (affiliate links here and below)
There’s a brand new Amazon deal working for some people:
- Get $15 off $50 when you use at least one Citi ThankYou point. Must first activate the offer here.
Here’s how to go about doing this deal:
-
-
- (Link your Citi ThankYou account to your Amazon account if you haven’t already; note, you often have to wait 24 hours after registering your card until you can activate the offer)
- Add $50 or more of eligible products shipped and sold by Amazon to your shopping cart
- Proceed to checkout & select your Citi ThankYou card as your payment method
- Select the amount of ThankYou Points you’d like to use for the purchase (we recommend using just 1 point)
- $15 discount will automatically be applied at checkout
-
Here’s an example of what a $50 Whole Foods gift card looks like at checkout on my account:
The Fine Print
Our Verdict
Worked on both of my accounts, but it seems to be targeted. It’s possible it’ll work for anyone with a linked Citi ThankYou card (which has its account linked for pay-with-points), but it may also be targeted. Note: Some people are getting a message about how ‘this offer is by invitation only and you aren’t eligible’, and at the same time it says ‘promo code activated’. In that case, it should work for you at checkout.
This deal works on third party gift cards, but presumably not Amazon or Visa gift cards. Samples gift cards available on Amazon:

- Update 8/2/19: Some people are showing ‘ineligible’ but also showing the button to enroll, and it works.
the new 20% offer made this offer disappeared… now I only have the new 20% offer…
There is a new offer with an interesting language that appears to be new:
“This offer is not available to eligible Citi cardmembers who have previously used ThankYou Points to shop at Amazon.com in the past twelve (12) months.”
Fortunately, this restriction is not being strictly applied yet.
“This is a limited-time offer to get 20% off your eligible purchase(s), up to a maximum aggregate value of $30 off, when using ThankYou Points for all or part of your purchase(s) when the promotional code is entered at checkout.
The promotion will end 11:59PM PST on 09/30/2020, or when the cumulative value of redeemed promotion codes reaches $250,000, whichever is earlier. “
William Charles Chuck Yes, this is a new 20% off offer from Citi, with new id: https://www.amazon.com/b?node=21220966011
Posted now, thanks https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amazon-get-20-off-with-using-1-citi-thankyou-point-30-max-discount/
lilurbanachiever it worked for you despite having used ThankYou points in the past 12 months?
It worked for me and I have used TY points more than once (thanks to you doc) in the last 12 months 🙂
@Chuck Yes it worked for me this morning, even though I used the previous offer ($15 off 50) about two months ago. Maybe the new 12 mo. clock starts with this offer.
Thanks
Link is not working
Link/offer dead?
I registered my thank you account, but when I click on the link above Amazon just gives me a blank page.
On my offer page, the expiration date is June 9 not June 30 as stated on DoC. If I click on “Activate”, does that mean I have only 2 days to use this?
Shows up on my Amazon page, but never works lol
Page said I wasn’t eligible but had a click to activate link. Clicked on it and worked fine!
Same here. I think the last time I have used this was early 2019. But even though the link shows up on checkout clicking the activate button always results in “Your points will be applied at checkout but we were not able to activate the promo code. If you have already activated this code, your discount will be applied at checkout.”
Worked for me. Thanks DoC
Now I know why DoC lists giftcards for this promotion. I got $10 off for first time while checking out without any link, I bought three items but had to return one and the smart ass programming of amazon deducted the $10 from the refund and cs says contact the credit card for that issue.
I will buy only amazon gift cards if i ever get this deal.
Amazon GCs are usually not eligible.
Thanks. I bought $25 each of petco and Whole Foods with $15 off this time
I just got this a second time. I applied the usual strategy of removing/adding my Premier card. Took about 3 days of checking every day, but got it again today.
Link works, activates OK but the discount does not apply at final checkout right now.
Same here, double checked that all items are labelled “sold by amazon”.
