If American Airlines wants these to be a success they desperately need to create a landing page advertising these specials and the routes they are on. For example some of the above routes are 5,000 miles whereas others are 12,500. Hat tip to View From The Wing.
American Airlines has launched economy web specials, in an apparent attempt to compete with Delta’s increasingly common Delta Flash Sales. American Airlines already offers reduced mileage awards and that program offers a discount of 1,000-7,000 miles but requires holding an American Airlines co-branded credit card. American Airlines has confirmed that program will be remaining and economy web specials will be in addition to this program.
To begin with economy web specials have launched on the following six routes:
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) — Wichita (ICT)
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) — Corpus Christi (CRP)
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) — Brownsville South Padre Island (BRO)
- Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) — McAllen (MFE)
- Phoenix (PHX) — Long Beach (LGB)
- Charlotte (CLT) — Orlando-Melbourne (MLB)
Normally these routes would cost 7,500 miles and under this new program they will cost as little as 5,000 miles one way. You can book these routes now, but they aren’t available for flights before January 8th, 2019. Economy web specials are more limited than regular award bookings as you cannot make any changes to the booking (cancellation is still available but at $150 for the first passenger and then an additional $25 per passenger in most cases losing the miles is the better option). At this stage it isn’t clear how often these web specials will be refreshed. I also don’t see a dedicated landing page explaining the new program, but it’s possible I just missed that.

Sorry if this has been asked & answered before.
Is there a special page or link on AA that we go and view these flights?
TIA
Normal US to Asia is 35K for economy class. I don’t think it is a discount
One of the routes I booked a month ago went from 12.5k to 9k with this special. Any chance I can get the new price?
PHX-NRT shows 32.5k one way economy. The usual is 35k.
I think it is a lot more widespread than thought, there just isn't a good collection of all of the routes. DSM has web specials to all of the hubs AA flies to. ORD, DFW, DCA, PHL, CLT, PHX.
all one way, 47,500 miles for econ, discount?
Wondering the same thing...
I dont really understand this web special thing. I've noticed that if i book a last minute flight, day prior, it sometimes randomly has a web special. As in its like a last minute sales strategy to fill flights. I dont think web special are just limited to these routes, its more of a free for all. As an example i've gotten a web special on BOS-LGA and BOS-DCA
I have found this for stl to las in December for as low as 5000 miles.
I noticed that Delta essentially matched them at 5,500 miles for the IND-AUS route. Not sure if this was part of their flash sale or not.
Chicago to Dublin also has Economy Web Special
