Our Verdict

Interesting that the Southwest points count towards companion pass as well this time. As always use cashbackmonitor to compare portal rates to ensure you’re getting a good deal.

Can I use multiple portals during this buy period and get each bonus?

William Charles Alaska Mileage Plan now also offers 300 miles for $150, 750 miles for $350, 1500 miles for $550.

Does anyone know how these points post when it comes to miles toward companion pass? For example if I make the purchase in November but it doesn’t post until 2022 will it count for 2022 mileage credits?

It shows in the terms of the offer that the points should post by 12/31/2021, so would count only toward 2021 progress.

If they are slow to post and post in 2022, they would count toward the 2022 progress toward the companion pass though.

I think Southwest portal points always counted for Companion Pass but what is new is counting towards A-List. I guess in a way it’s an answer to AA’s latest changes.

Shopping portal points have counted toward the companion pass in the past. The spend bonus points have not though. That part is new for this offer.

The headline mentions American and Alaska but I don’t see any mention in the post. What am I missing?

Alaska saw your predicament. Alaska did not want your post to be wrong. They announced a new portal bonus today.

1% base point + 4% paypal quarterly via paypal key + 2% drug store (CFF benefit) + 2% UA portal + bonus miles, potentially additional 4% for top category drug store spending 🙂

Have you actually tried? GC purchases often don’t qualify on portals.

yep I got the bonus in July/august. I also did the one recently ended, but one of the pick up order didn’t track so contacted CS and they confirmed that my purchase qualified, asked me to reach back again when bonus should be posted. The UA portal walgreen cb terms did not exclude gc purchase.

So are you buying walgreens gift card? Or visa gc? Sorry, confused here. I have not been able to do these airline portal bonus deals ever gc.com stopped portal cashbacks : /

Maybe it’s the amount? My July gc.com orders tracked and helped me got the bonus(that’ was the first time I purchased from gc.com).

For Walgreens I’m just buying third party gift cards. There is no vgc available to pick up from my store online, even there is it’s probably $100/$200, fee won’t be worth it
