American Express Adds Aer Lingus As Transfer Partner (Oldish News)

I realize this is old news for a lot of readers, but on August 6th American Express added Aer Lingus as a transfer partner. American Express’ transfer partner list now looks as follows:

American Express Membership Rewards Transfer Partners
Airline Partners (1:1 Unless Otherwise Noted)
Delta SkyMilesAeroMexico Club Premier (1:1)Air Canada AeroplanKLM/AirFrane Flying Blue
Alitalia MilleMiglia ClubANAAsia MilesBritish Airways Avios
EmiratesEL AL Israel Airlines (50:1)FrontierHawaiian Airlines
Iberia PlusjetBlue (1.25:1)Singapore Airlines KrisFlyerQantas
Virgin atlantic flying clubEtihadAer LingusAvianca Lifemiles
Hotel Partners (1:1 unless otherwise noted)
Choice PrivilegesHilton Hhonors (1:2)Marriott (1:1)

Aer Lingus will transfer at a rate of 1:1. It’s not exactly the most exciting travel partner given that British Airways is already a transfer partner and they are both owned by IAG. It’s also possible to transfer between British Airways, Iberia Plus & Aer Lingus although there is some difficultly and restrictions in doing so. IAG has also signaled that these will be rolled into a single program at some time in the future. The last American Express transfer partner that was added was Etihad back in 2016. Unfortunately this time there is no transfer bonus to celebrate Aer Lingus being added.

I don’t see any place on my account to transfer Aer Lingus. Where are you guys seeing this? Also, Frontier and Virgin America are no longer part of AMEX MR transfer partners. Time for a little update on the page 🙂

Do they have the same crazy fuel surcharges that British Airways does? If so I would say pretty worthless transfer partner.

Considering the charges stem mainly from going through Heathrow, probably not.

I would assume Marriott/SPG transfers are now 1:1?
