American Express has added family language to the Personal gold card. Last month family language was added to Delta cards and then earlier this month was added to the blue cash cards. The personal gold card now reads:
You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Premier Rewards Gold Card, the Platinum Card®, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley or previous versions of these Cards. You also may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors. If you are not eligible for a welcome offer, we will notify you prior to processing your application so you have the option to withdraw your application.
This was now added to the personal green card as well

I’ve had the Vanilla plat in the past before I moved to the Schwab Plat. Would I be ineligible to receive the 60k point Amex Gold SUB even if the offer shows up whenever I browse the cards when I am logged into Amex?
update: got pre-approved for gold card but was ineligible for the SUB. How ridiculous.
But is it ok to get the Business Platinum before applying for the Gold Personal ? Trying to keep down the 5/24 counts (for Chase use).
Can confirm this is being enforced. Closed Premier Rewards Gold in May 2014 and have only had Platinum since. Denied new personal Gold with popup.
I just got a targeted 150k platinum offer in the mail.
With that, would my best course of action be to apply for the gold then apply for the plat after?

As far as I can tell, you can go from Gold to Plat, just not Plat to Gold (probably because Amex is incentivizing you to move to a higher AF)…for now.
My daughter has the gold card and delta card, was offered the the Hilton honors card a couple of months ago, signed up and met minimum speed, was waiting for SUB and never got it, made several calls (huca) and they are telling her she is not eligible for SUB!!!
She has not had this card or any Hilton or any other Amex card before, and never got notice that I was not eligible for SUb?????
