American Express Business Platinum Refunding $200 From Annual Fee After Card Renewal

American Express will refund $200 from your Business Platinum annual fee ($595) upon card renewal.

This is being sent out via email to some and it shows at the link above. Some are also seeing it as a banner ad in their online account.

It hasn’t yet gone out to everyone via email, but some with annual fees due much later in the year are already getting it, so I’d guess that it’s just being sent out in batches and ultimately everyone will get it (at least if your fee is due anytime in 2020). That’s my guess.

(Update: one reader was told this specifically by a rep that the appreciation bonus is for those whose annual fees renew between May 1 and December 31.)

Offer terms:

  • Eligible Business Platinum Card Members as determined by American Express in its sole discretion, will be eligible to receive a one-time $200 statement credit after Card renewal.
  • The statement credit will be applied to the eligible card account within 8-12 weeks of the account renewal month.
  • This statement credit is limited to Basic (not Additional) Card Members only.
  • Offer is non-transferable.
  • If the eligible Business Platinum Card is cancelled, or you have downgraded or upgraded your Card up to 45 days after the first day of your renewal month, you will not receive the one-time $200 statement credit.
  • American Express reserves the right to modify or revoke offer at any time.

It seems that only the Business Platinum card is getting this. We haven’t heard anything about the personal Platinum or any other card yet.

The Platinum business card and many other Amex cards got other enhancements as well.
