Our Verdict
This is the best offer we’ve seen on the personal Gold card. We saw a similar offer months ago, but with 35,000 + $250. At that rate, the public offer of 60,000 was arguably better. This new Resy offer gives both 60,000 points and up to $250 back at restaurants and is the best ever.
An argument could be made for those in 2-player mode to use the public offer of 60,000 points via referral link; altogether, you’ll net 60,000 + referral offer which could be as much as 30,000.
The timing on getting the Gold card now is superb given that there’s still an airline credit for 2020 and for 2021, and then it’ll overlap with the $10 monthly Uber credit which begins in early 2021.
If you’re thinking of applying, make sure you read these things everybody should know about American Express cards first. Separately, there’s an excellent Resy offer on the Platinum card.
Hat tip to DDG
Amex Gold now increased to 75,000 Points + 20% Credit On Restaurant Spend (Max $250).
Amex Green is 50,000 Points + 20% Credit On Restaurant Spend (Max $150).
Resy offer is increased to 75k now and still the same 20% back on restaurants up to $250.
I have had an 80,000 point offer on the Amex Gold (via snail mail) for almost a year straight now that I haven’t used, so I am surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned on this site yet.
Nevermind. Never opened the mail, but now when I finally do so, I see it’s for the Gold Business card.
I last opened an Amex Gold card in Summer 2013 and closed the card in June 2014. Will I be eligible for the new Amex Gold bonus due to the “7 year rule”? Or is it not worth the risk?
Chuck, I am curious as to why the 35K offer, but not this offer, is listed on your “best offer” page?
Updated, thanks
Interesting, I got a referral offer on my link for 75k+$200 statement back in US home furnishing store. That’s pretty high and is from referral too.
Guys i recieved pre approved golf offer of 75k.. I’m not a big spender so 5k in 3 months for me is difficult.. Recently I had a surgery so got some 3k bills to pay so I applied for the card.. Turns out the hospital don’t accept Amex.. Please suggest how to reach my 5k.. Can I buy Apple gift cards??
Go to walmart/target and buy $500 visa gift card. You’ll pay approximately 1% in fee. then use those visa gift cards to pay your hospital bills, if they can accept partial credit card payments.
Sorry, but if I’m not mistaken, Amex is very sensitive to the gift card purchase method to manufacture spending. You risk having your account closed very quickly. You’ll still be on the hook for those $3k in gift card purchases.
So, is the 4x points on restuarants different from the 20 percent with the ressy offer? Im a little confused.
Can’t believe I didn’t sign up for this previously. I am unable to get the 75,000 MR point offer. I would say that this is a comparably equal offer. Was approved for it today! (Only own the Platinum vanilla 100,000 MR point offer).
Does anyone know if the 20% Resy offer applies to Uber Eats, Seamless etc? Or has to be directly at the restaurant? Also, does fast food like McDonalds or Popeyes count?
Wondering the same thing about delivery services.
Just chatted in and this offer is only for purchases made directly at the restaurant.
