Earlier this year we shared news of a new centurion lounge that would be opening Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport. The opening date was listed as opening sometime in Q3, Q3 ends in a few days so it looks like that deadline has been missed. Flyertalk user forumpersona999 received an e-mail stating that the lounge would be opening in October (no exact date is specified). In addition Hong Kong blogger Fly For Miles has received an invitation for the soft launch this Friday September 29th, if that’s the case I suspect the lounge will officially open on October 1st.
They’ve also given us some details on what to expect in terms of food and drink. It looks like this will be a fully featured centurion lounge unlike some of the other international options. American Express has been trying to expand their lounge network recently, most likely in attempt to differentiate their Platinum card from other premium card offers. For example they recently added Lufthansa lounge access in Munich and announced plans for a bigger Centurion lounge at Dallas-Forth Worth.
Hat tip to One Mile At A Time
Is the Cathay biz lounge good? We’ll be there in December and would visit the Centurion if the Cathay biz lounge isn’t considered great.
I was the Wing (Cathay business lounge) in July and it was not as good as ANA business lounge in Narita. Just my personal experience.
Any idea of Amex business platinum will go back to 100k in January like earlier this year?
Can get 100k already: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-current-credit-card-sign-bonuses/#American_Express_Business_Platinum_100000_Points
Interesting to see what this will be like, but I normally have access to the Cathay First Lounges and those are exceptional – I can’t see it beating those.
I mean it’s going to be hard to beat that foot massage.
Cool. I will get to visit this lounge, and Changi Terminal 4, on my trip to SE Asia, with CX in November!
